Unpopular opinion: High school isn't the greatest time of your life.

We've all seen those posts: "to the seniors that think they are ready to graduate." You know, the posts that praise the experiences you have in high school and discuss all of the things you will miss after you're gone. Well, guess what? Here's an unpopular opinion: High school isn't the greatest time of your life. And it shouldn't be.

High school nowadays is just a bunch of teenagers worried about relationships, applying to college, the new social media app, and the theme for Friday's big football game. But I'm here to tell you that there is so much more to life than what Rachel wore to prom last year.

Now, by no means am I the expert on life experiences and sure, high school may have been great for you! However, my high school experience, for lack of a better word, kinda sucked.

The thing is, no matter whether or not you had a great, average, or downright awful four years, high school shouldn't be the greatest years of your life. You are still so young; you have so much to be excited about! Your life is only just beginning.

"Graduation is not the end, it's just the beginning of the beautiful life that lies ahead of you." -Unknown

This is the time where you start making the most influential decisions of your life. Will you go to college or a technical school? Will you join the military or go straight into the workforce? Do you know what career you want for the rest of your life or will you change your major after your freshman year, like I did?

What I'm trying to say here is simple: Don't feel guilty about being eager to escape your high school years. That's completely fine, and a feeling you are entitled to. In all reality, some people will miss high school and some people won't. That's what high school reunions are for.

At the end of the day, you just need to try and enjoy whatever time you have left in high school and remember to be excited for the journey you will embark upon after graduation. Life beyond high school is when you truly figure out who you are, who you want to be, and what life you want to live.

Life isn't perfect, but it's worth it. Never quit striving to make the next years of your life, the best years of your life. Don't settle for anything less.
