(Warning: These tips are based on MY opinion of high school survival.)

Now everyone has probably told you, or students like you, "Just have fun!" Now I have a perfect statement for that sentence. NO. High School isn't all about having fun. It's usually about either drugs, popularity, the opposite sex, and self-identity. See how I didn't include grades? There's a special place in hell for grades. I have recently graduated high school last year, was it the "best four years" of my life? Hell no, I hated it. Some moments I had wished to have death's sweet kiss take me away, however growing up I learned that I'm happy death spared me.

Some moments of high school were fun, yes. I am not going to deny that the friends I had helped me survive and helped me go through all of four years with a breeze. However, I did have numerous amounts of experience that I had made mental notes for tips. Some of these tips do not need to apply to you, but they are a good thing to read up on;

1. Do Not worry about Having a lot of Friends.

This tip is number one because it's extremely important. The same amount of friends you have when you start high school will go down by the time you walk across the stage to get your diploma. TRUST those 'besties' will not be your besties when a boy is involved between the two of you. Which is an introduction to the second tip.

2. Do Not fight over ANYONE.

Yes, do not fight over the girl in your 5th period, or the boy in your 2nd period. If the person your willing to fight over for can't decide. Then let them be, those people either cannot make their own choices, or they enjoy the sick part of either two guys or two girls fighting over them. And if you're the one who enjoys it? STOP you're playing with the other two feelings.

3. Analyze the situation.

There will be some moments in your high school years that you would probably have to explain your reasoning to your teacher. Always analyze what the question is, especially if the teacher has his, or her, own opinion on you, which might not be good. Even in the hallway always analyze the situation, or with your friends who need your help. Even if there's a "Good VS. Evil" conclusion, analyze why the antagonist did what they did. Don't always assume that the good seems the good.

4. ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION!

In everywhere you might go something could always happen. A fight could break out or, worst case scenario, a school shooting. Always pay attention to your surroundings and who you could turn to if anything occurs. It isn't a bad idea to keep a hold of the school map, and the time schedule for each period and lunch times. If anyone calls you a 'nerd' because of it. Just know that you're probably more organized than them.

5. Just Stay Low.

This is the last tip sadly. Now when people start high school, they think being popular is important. And to the people saying, "Nah, this is wrong," No it isn't. The people saying that might not pay attention to the school itself. But that's okay. When the phrase "stay low" is brought in, it doesn't mean to crawl or stay low to the ground. It means to not attract attention to yourself, unless you like attention then hell go for it. However staying low is just not really being worried about how many people you know, or how many of the 'cool kids' like you. But it's pretty much just trying to pass the classes, and having a closer bond with the friends you have already. That you can see to yourself that you trust through thick and thin.

This is just a short list of the many tips that I have to help people survive in high school. I will be writing many more tomorrow. Don't worry, you'll be okay during high school, just use these in real life and everything should be okay. Good luck out there man!
