Bahrain has been on my list of places to visit for years and I finally got the chance to go last year while I was in Dubai on vacation. Here are five things you shouldn't miss when visiting Bahrain!

1) Visit the Pearl Roundabout: This is one of Bahrain's most iconic sites. It's an intersection that has been home to protests, demonstrations and other political activities since 2011. This intersection also happens to be one of the most photographed places in Bahrain as it is surrounded by beautiful buildings with colorful facades and lots of greenery around it. There are shops, cafes, restaurants and even a few museums here!

2) Visit Manama Souq: The Manama Souq is famous for its souq (market), which means that it isn't necessarily known for its shopping. It is, however, the oldest market in Bahrain so you can't miss it when visiting! This souq has a wide range of shops to find what you need or want. There's even some cool art pieces you can take a picture with!

3) Take in the sights at Al Fateh Grand Mosque: The most recognisable building in Manama is Al Fateh Grand Mosque and it's one that holds quite a bit of history since it was built in 1744. The mosque saw it's first prayer in 1785 and has been the center of Bahraini life ever since. The mosque is covered in green tiles that make it stand out and be easily identifiable from a distance and there are lots of balconies throughout the building as well as a dome.

4) Watch the sunset at Al Jarda Beach: If you're looking for a more low key day, then you should head over to Al Jarda Beach. The beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Bahrain and it's definitely the place to come if you want to relax on a day off from exploring around town!

5) Visit Pearl Roundabout: There are some great sights and attractions for those who want something a little bit different and unique to do on a day out in Bahrain.
