Technical Hierarchy of Careers in SAP

SAP, like many other well-known technology companies, relies on the Band system to classify their workforce and the Band T represents the Technical Department, which ranges from T 1 to T 5. Each level is divided into three sections labelled L 1, L 2, and L 3. Movement from L1 to L2 is considered a progression (no salary increase), whereas movement from T 1 to T 2 is considered a promotion (with salary increase). The average progression occurs every 1 or 2 years, depending on the candidate's skills.

T-2 Developer

After one or two years as an Associate Developer, you will be promoted to the position of Developer. You have the same duties as in the previous one. However, the tasks will be extremely difficult. If you have advanced beyond T2 L2, you are considered a specialist. A Developer in SAP earns an average annual salary of $ 125,000.

T-3 Senior Developer

You will be promoted to Senior Developer after 5 years of experience. As a Senior Developer, you are fully responsible for the entire software development process; he or she instructs the production, marketing, and sales departments on the features of a new product. A Senior Developer in SAP earns an average annual salary of $155,000. Following that, your promotion period is determined by your skills and working style. As a result, there is no set period of promotion.

T-4 Architect

As an Architect, you will be in charge of the design and planning of the entire software development life cycle or project. The architect is also known as the project manager at times. It is a higher-level position that is more respected within the company. An Architect's annual salary in SAP ranges between $200,000 and $210,000.

T-5 Chief Architect

The Chief Architect is the final and most senior position in SAP. This position is frequently compared to that of director or technical lead in other multinational corporations. He or she is solely responsible for the company's technical operations. A Chief Architect in SAP earns between $260,000 and $265,000.

The SAP technical positions end here, but there are many higher positions if you pursue careers in SAP, as a technical or software engineer may go if he develops business or managerial skills. Here are a few examples: CTO, Director, Vice President, CEO, and so on.
