Would You like it English or German...?
Having been an instructor of German as a Foreign Language, having being interested in foreign Languages for years, and having had a chance to live and travel inside the European Union for much time, I've accumulated some facts and figures, which I've today decided to put into proper words. This is about how the German Language and Culture influenced and shaped Great Britain and the United States. What if I told you that German Language was once in a position of becoming the Official Language in the USA, and I am certainly not implying that the German-Japanese alliance was in any position to conquer the United States or it's allies. So, had German become the official language of the US, that would have omitted English as the majority learnt and researched medium of instruction in the world and perhaps the World of today be more interested in eating Bratwurst (a form of German Sausage with Bread) in-place of McChicken and perhaps we would be more accustomed to drinking Sparkling or the Mineral Water in place of the plain water, that we like today. In the late 1700s a referendum was held in the US which was made to decide whether the country wanted to adapt German or the English as it's official Language. Many of my American friends refer to it as the Muhlenberg Legend or the Muhlenberg Myth and deny that it ever took place. Many Researchers and Record Keepers, however, are also of the view, the referendum indeed took place in the year 1794 in which every State participated and had to choose from both languages and the motion lost in the house of Representatives by a single vote of 42-41 in favor of English. Although, never proven right or wrong, the theory made and still makes an enormous amount of sense when taken into context for a number of reasons.

The 7 Habits That Transformed My Life Forever
Throughout life, there comes a point when we realize that our current habits and routines aren’t taking us to where we want to go. That realization happened to me, and as someone striving for personal growth, financial freedom, and meaningful relationships, I embarked on a journey to develop life-changing habits. Below, I’ll share the seven habits that completely transformed my life, and perhaps, they might inspire you to evaluate your own routines. --- ### **1. Prioritizing Health Over Everything Else** Health is wealth—it’s a cliché, but it’s the foundation upon which all other successes are built. I learned that without good health, nothing else matters. I adopted a habit of exercising regularly, eating nutritious meals, and getting enough sleep. Initially, it felt like a struggle, but the physical and mental energy I gained was worth it. Morning walks became a daily ritual. Not only did it boost my cardiovascular health, but it also gave me time to reflect and clear my thoughts. I also focused on reducing sugar and processed foods in my diet, and the results were phenomenal. My mind became sharper, my body more energized, and I felt an inner peace that hadn’t been there before. --- ### **2. Practicing Gratitude Daily** Gratitude is a powerful habit that shifts your perspective from scarcity to abundance. I started keeping a gratitude journal where I’d write down three things I was grateful for every morning. At first, they were small things—like a good cup of coffee or a beautiful sunrise—but over time, I began appreciating deeper blessings, like my relationships and personal growth. This habit rewired my mind to focus on the positives in life. Instead of complaining about challenges, I learned to see them as opportunities to grow. Gratitude also made me more patient and resilient, helping me handle difficult situations with grace. --- ### **3. Setting Clear Goals and Reviewing Them Regularly** I used to drift through life without a clear direction, until I realized the power of setting specific, measurable, and time-bound goals. I divided my goals into short-term, medium-term, and long-term categories, covering areas like finances, relationships, and personal development. Every week, I’d review my progress and adjust my actions if necessary. For instance, when working towards financial freedom, I set a specific savings target and broke it down into monthly milestones. Tracking my progress motivated me and kept me focused. This habit taught me that success isn’t accidental—it’s intentional. Goals give you a roadmap to follow, and reviewing them ensures you stay on course. --- ### **4. Embracing Lifelong Learning** One of the habits that significantly impacted my growth was cultivating a love for learning. I made it a point to read at least one book a month, listen to podcasts, and attend webinars or workshops on topics I wanted to master. Whether it was financial literacy, personal development, or historical insights, continuous learning expanded my knowledge and perspective. I realized that the more I learned, the more confident I became in making decisions. It also opened up new opportunities I would never have considered before. Remember, learning doesn’t end after school—it’s a lifelong journey. --- ### **5. Practicing Financial Discipline** Financial freedom was one of my ultimate goals, and achieving it required a shift in my mindset and habits. I developed the discipline to budget my income, save consistently, and avoid unnecessary expenses. I started by differentiating between needs and wants, which helped me avoid impulse purchases. I also began investing in assets that generated passive income, ensuring my money worked for me instead of just sitting idle. This habit gave me peace of mind, knowing that I was building a stable financial future without breaking the bank. Financial discipline isn’t just about saving; it’s about creating a healthy relationship with money. When you manage your finances well, you reduce stress and increase opportunities for growth. --- ### **6. Building Deep, Meaningful Relationships** Life is richer when shared with others. I realized that meaningful relationships—whether with family, friends, or my partner—are the cornerstone of happiness. I made it a habit to invest time in these relationships, nurture them, and express appreciation for the people in my life. One of the changes I made was improving communication. Instead of assuming others understood my feelings, I learned to express them openly. This created stronger bonds and resolved misunderstandings before they grew into conflicts. I also made an effort to surround myself with positive, growth-oriented individuals. These relationships motivated me to become a better person and reminded me of the importance of love and support. --- ### **7. Living With Intentionality** Perhaps the most transformative habit was living intentionally. This means being fully present in every moment and making choices that align with your values and goals. For me, this started with cutting out distractions and focusing on what truly mattered. I stopped wasting time on activities that didn’t contribute to my growth, like excessive social media scrolling or watching hours of TV. Instead, I replaced those habits with actions that enriched my life—like spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, and working on my personal projects. Intentional living also meant saying “no” to things that didn’t serve my purpose. It’s not about being selfish but about protecting your energy and investing it in what truly matters. --- ### **Final Thoughts** The seven habits I’ve shared didn’t change my life overnight—it was a gradual process of commitment and consistency. But as I look back, I realize how far I’ve come. My health improved, my relationships deepened, and I gained clarity and control over my future. If you’re feeling stuck or looking for a way to improve your life, start small. Pick one habit from this list and work on it consistently. Remember, change is a journey, not a destination. With patience and persistence, you can create the life you’ve always dreamed of. So, which habit will you start with today?
