Finishing College
So today I finished college. It’s a weird sensation. Miles different to the feeling of finishing at my secondary school, or the one (and only) year of A-Level I did. With those situations, there were loads of people celebrating the exact same event. All basking in the short-lived freedom they earned. Shedding tears, saying goodbyes and congratulating fellow students. Not the same here.
Profrauder of Film
I am a college student, and I am in a film class. I have to have some type of class from some category that includes film for my degree. Everyone has it. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for requiring a class that has nothing to do with most fields, but that's not what I'm angry about right at this moment.
Alexander EnderPublished 6 years ago in EducationIs This the Right College for You? Look to Your Professors!
I had wanted my bachelor's degree for as long as I could remember. Facing some hardship and finally growing up when I was my in late twenties made me realize that this HAD to be my primary focus. Not on bad relationships, not on my anxiety disorder, not the little insignificant things revolving around me, college and graduating had to be my number one. I was not going to spend my life wondering what if I had gotten the degree, and most importantly, regretting that I had not. After a decade of turmoil I was ready to go back once and for all! After having a miserable time at my first college and making a choice in a poor relationship instead of improving my academics, I took a break. Little did I know that break would last 10 years. But it was through this journey that I made a discovery. Not only should I be focused on what I was good at and the pace I could go, but also who was teaching me.
Jennifer KaspinPublished 6 years ago in EducationWays to Make Your University Experience Better
As a university student, especially if you are just starting out, it can be stressful trying to balance your social life and your schoolwork. Not only that, but it can be difficult to keep track of your money. With all the textbooks, groceries, school supplies, and tuition, it is hard to keep up with all the spending.
Ashley TobinPublished 6 years ago in EducationUWindsor's Green Ranking: Well Deserved?
Last week, an article was posted in the University of Windsor’s daily news celebrating the fact that Windsor has been included in the Princeton Review’s Guide to 375 Green Colleges from 2017, which highlights academic institutions from across North America who have demonstrated “exceptional commitments to sustainability.” While the University was proud to make this achievement known, this ranking is problematic, for a myriad of reasons.
Emilie WeidlPublished 6 years ago in EducationWhat Do We Expect from University?
Everyone tells you that university is an exotic, life-changing experience; that being here can in some way “complete” you, especially in America. For some this may be the case in the fairy tale way it is advertised (the "all your dreams will come true" outlook), but for me in old Blighty, I found this to be true, but in much subtler ways.

1) Buy a planner and/or a calendar!!! These are two life savers when trying to balance college, work, and a social life. Some people like to just go with the flow, but sometimes that method doesn’t bring success. When you’ve got five to seven exams and homework assignments on top of studying for those exams, you will then be so grateful that you’re organized. Let’s not forget your work schedule on top of the college studies.
Hannah HarrisonPublished 6 years ago in EducationMy Biggest Decision in College Made Me a Statistic
Around two years ago, I made the biggest decision of my life. This decision is more common than you'd think, but to me, it felt freeing like I'd grown some wings and soared. However, it also felt so wrong because I thought, "What would people think?"
Barbara CiochPublished 6 years ago in EducationCollege Is a Torture Chamber
A mortuary. A dumpster. A gas station bathroom. A department store on Black Friday. A bank in the middle of a robbery. An isolated island, without a boat.
Stephanie HarperPublished 6 years ago in EducationWhat to Know About Your First Year of University
I am about to cross the finish line for my completing my first year of university. I am a Bachelor of Science student with little knowledge of what I will do with my Bachelor degree when I get out in four years. And that is perfectly OK. These four years (and maybe a couple more) are all about you. Not about what your parents want, or your peers think are cool. This is for you to find out who you really are, who you want to be, and what kind of career you want to peruse for the rest of your life. University can seem extremely scary, new school, new friends, big city, maybe even a new country. But that is OK, because change can be good. You could meet your best friends for life, maybe even fall in love and you experience many new crazy things.
Brynn BastPublished 6 years ago in EducationWhy I Had to Leave College in My Freshman Year
It is the second semester of my freshmen year of college. We have gotten snow a couple times and everyone has the flu. And I mean everyone. Including me. It's the fifth week of classes and I can honestly say I've only been to probably ten of my classes this semester. The university has posters put up all around campus saying that if you feel sick in any way to go back to your dorm.
Laura LowmanPublished 6 years ago in EducationHow University Was Not the Rebirth I Was Expecting
When I was in high school, I hated my life. High school was just not my stage, and I was desperate to move away from a dead end town and go to university. I was a stupid teenager, and on the night of my high school graduation, I deleted almost all of my Facebook friends. If they were from high school, they got deleted - except for a select few. I wanted to start over.
