Honest Review about the college

A South Indian Student’s Honest Story: My Journey to Parul University
(Read the original article here: Student Life at Parul University – Honest Review)
When I first started looking for colleges, I wasn’t just hunting for a campus with flashy buildings or a course list a mile long. I was looking for a home away from home. As someone from South India, thinking about moving all the way to Gujarat felt… well, let’s just say it wasn’t the easiest thought to process.
But then I found Parul University, nestled in the heart of Vadodara. I’ll admit—it wasn’t love at first sight. I came across it randomly while attending a college fair. “35,000+ students from across India and even 60+ countries?” I thought. “Sounds interesting.” I bookmarked it for later.
And that ‘later’ changed everything.
The First Impression: More Than Just a Campus
From the outside, Parul has everything you’d expect—modern infrastructure, vibrant campus, and a buzzworthy atmosphere. But what struck me more was what you couldn’t see in brochures—the energy, the diversity, and the stories hidden within those walls.
They offered courses in literally everything: Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Design, Law—you name it. I was a little skeptical at first. “Can they really pull off so many disciplines well?” I wondered. But I dug deeper.
Landing in Vadodara: Culture Shock? Maybe. But Also Warmth.
Vadodara—what a city. It’s not like the tech jungles of Bangalore or the fast lanes of Chennai. But it’s alive in its own way. A proper education hub with multiple universities, a welcoming community, and a pace that lets you breathe.
Sure, I missed the spicy sambars and the rhythm of Telugu or Tamil around me. But what I didn’t expect was how welcoming Gujaratis are. That warmth? You feel it from day one. And travel? Easy—roads, railways, even flights. My first visit home was smoother than expected.
The Money Talk: Education Without the Panic Attack
Let’s not kid ourselves—college costs are scary. But this is where Parul genuinely surprised me.
I had compared the numbers with other private universities—Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai—and the difference was shocking:
Course Annual Fees (Approx.)
B.Tech (CSE) ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,00,000
MBA ₹2,25,000
BBA/B.Com ₹1,50,000
Diploma ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,50,000
In South India, similar courses can go up to ₹3–4 lakhs easily. For my middle-class family, Parul felt like a breath of fresh air. A place where I could actually dream big without draining my family’s savings or drowning in loans.
Is It the Best University in India? No. But That’s Okay.
Let’s be real. If you can get into top-tier places like Manipal, VIT, or SRM—and you can afford them—go for it. They’ve got the rankings and the reputation.
But if you're someone who’s willing to grind, stay focused, and build something of your own, Parul gives you a fighting chance. And sometimes, that’s all you need.
Beyond the Books: A Campus That Breathes Culture
College isn’t just about lectures and labs, right? Parul knows that.
From Navratri nights that light up the whole campus to celebrating Onam with banana leaves and Pongal with real South Indian vibes—they don’t just check boxes. They celebrate every culture with heart.
Big events like Dhoom, Parul Utsav, and International Day turn the campus into a festival ground. And yes—fashion shows, DJ nights, dance-offs, food fests—it’s a blast. Even as a South Indian far from home, I never felt out of place.
The Moment That Changed Everything: The Tech Expo
Now, here’s the game-changer.
Every year, Parul hosts Vadodara’s biggest tech expo—inside the campus. And this isn’t just a fancy exhibition. This is where real investors walk in. Startup mentors, brands, industry experts—all there to see what students are building.
And I was one of them. I pitched an idea with my team. We didn’t win big money, but what we did win was mentorship, confidence, and a belief that our ideas mattered.
That one experience made me feel like I wasn’t just another student—I was a creator in the making.
Final Word: So, Should You Join?
Parul isn’t perfect. No college is. But it gave me:
A safe place to grow
A budget-friendly education
A diverse, lively community
Real-world exposure and startup opportunities
A space where I felt seen—even far from home
If you’re from South India, wondering if you’ll “fit in,” my honest answer? You will. And not just fit in—you’ll thrive if you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone.
So yes, for me, Parul University was more than a choice—it became a journey I’m proud of.
