Speech Introduction

The speech on the Hidden World of Chilli Peppers conducted by the student is short and precise. The introduction was less than a minute on why the research was essential. In his introductory part, the student informs the audience on why he decided to investigate why we get red in the face and salivate over the mere thought of eating a spicy chili. This is the student’s thesis. The introduction was top-notch effective since it was precise and vivid to the objective of his speech. The objectives of the student's speech involved the history of chili pepper, why they can be so spicy, what happens when eating too hot peppers, and ways the pepper can be utilized other than in foods. The preview highlights three body points that will be covered throughout the speech.

Body, Signposts, and conclusion

Inside the student's speech, the transition to the body began with a transition sentence linked to the introductory part's last sentence. In this case, the student starts with the history of chili pepper. After the student finished his introductory speech, when moving to the body, he used literary devices such as flashbacks to indicate the origin of chili pepper to up-level and make it better and more impactful as he continued to craft his speech getting the audience's attention. The student utilized flashbacks to give a brief history of the origin of the pepper and how it became widespread. He uses this literary device to offer more context to his speech. The flashback used shows how the past greatly impacted the present.

The body was well developed and clear. The student was concise and precise in order not to drift the audience's concentration to the state of boredom. He kept his speech to the point while offering some scientific connection to his research. The main points of the student's speech were based on historical findings, scientific research, and articles such as by Carolyn Dilly and Susan Bell. They were the authors of the chili pepper book on why it is dietary essential, spreading across the globe. His next point is also based on scientific research by Bosman on why the chili pepper is spicy and what happens when consumed more. He also extends his speech by offering scholarly, institute analysis on how to eliminate the chili sensation. The student finished his body section by providing some benefits, such as pepper spray used for self-protection, medicinal properties, and promoting hair growth.

The signposts were between the introduction's closing and the body's opening, where the student paused for a while to indicate to the audience that he was shifting to the body part. The other signpost was also at the closing of the body and the opening of the conclusion, where he also posed and stated "in closing" to show that he was about to wrap up his speech. The student's conclusion was effective since he recapped his main points throughout the speech. He also offers space for more research on chili paper, especially curing boldness.

Overall Impressions

The speech was perfect, and I cannot say that it needs any more improvement because he offered everything from history to research to the future chili can offer. The speech was well narrated and precise, leaving no room for distraction. What the student did well was to provide a lot of information about the chili pepper in a short period, making the audience feel satisfied.
