Rug doctor hire v professional

So many people ask " is a rug doctor machine any good? ". Well that all depends on a huge variety of different things like the fiber of your carpet, how heavily soiled your carpets are, is there any stains and wat you expect the end result to look like. As a professional carpet & upholstery Cleaning specialist based on leicester I can tell you now there's a huge difference between hiring a rug doctor and paying for a professional to clean your carpets, rugs or upholstery. A rug doctor will do an alrite job in cleaning your carpets as I've used one many many years ago before I was a professional carpet cleaner to clean the carpets in my old flat at the end of my tenancy. Even though the looked in good condition it was apart of my tenancy contract to get the cleaned and to be fair I could see the difference as my carpets was slightly dirty. Once I finished the carpets did feel wet!! So I let them dry for the rest of the day and night to return in the morning. The morning came so I went over to the flat to meet one of the letting agents for the end of tenancy inspection. I explained we just had them cleaned yesterday morning and the flat is completely empty but we best take our shoes off. When we entered the carpets still felt slightly damp and I was surprised (at the time) but figured this must be normal and it might take around 48hrs to completely dry out. Anyway the inspection was carried out and I ended up getting my full deposit back so I was happy. A fair few years later I spotted a Facebook add that was running asking people from all over the UK if they was interested in a carpet cleaning franchise and I jumped at the chance and I enjoyed the time I used a rug doctor so I send them a message!! It took the about a week to reply but when they did the explained that the city I lived in (Leicester) didn't have a franchise member so if I was definitely interested call them and they will go into full detail about the opportunity.

The very next day I felt really excited and called them keeping my fingers crossed I can join, after the tak they invited me down to Bournemouth where the office was for a days training in the warehouse and for the next day to go out with one of the employed cleaners as a trail. I was really nervous but excited but it All went well so they gave me a van to drive mack in with the full set up and it wasn't long before I was being sent jobs via the app slowly ramping up to 4-5 jobs a day. I soon realsied how hard it really was and still had a lot to learn!!!. I worked for the franchise for almost 2 years and d saved up to buy my own machine, equipment and a van as I wanted t start my own business carpet & upholstery cleaning.i did a verity of staining courses along the way as well.

The time came when I saved up enough to get a website and buy everything I needed to start my own business and I can honestly say it's the best thing I ever did! Link 🔗 below

As you can see with the above photo I have already stated cleaning the stair case carpet and decided to take a picture showing the huge difference!!! The extracted water from this job was black!!

Anyway that's the basic story of how I got into carpet cleaning now to talk about the title of this story!! Should you hire a rug doctor or a professional?

Comparing a rig doctor hire machine to a professional is like comparing a formula 1 car to a Nissan Micra. A professional like my self using a much bigger machine that has a huge power different with the spraying of the cleaning solution and the extraction (suction) .

Dry times: I get a fair few calls every year about smelly carpets after using a rug doctor and I explain it's because it's stated wet for to long and bacteria has grown...this should never happen but the rug doctor is used more like a hoover and doesn't have a very powerful vacuum motor to extract the water.

Dry times:

it should only take half a day at most or you're carpets to dry out and that's if it's a very cold day day and you have a very thick pile carpet. My dry times are typically around 2 hours once the job is completed.

Effort:

Cleaning carpets is no easy task so let's say for the rug doctor and the very cheaply make solutions hire around £55 plus then you have to clean the carpets your self that takes time depending on how many carpets you need to clean.

experience:

Compared to a professional you won't really have the knowledge, training or experience to do a great job compared to a professional.

End result:

Some people's expectations are to high for the rug doctor and expect a brand new looking carpet that is never going to happen. Even as a professional I know with years of ware on the fibres it's never going to look brand new and fluffy again.

from my experience using a hire machine and now knowing everything I do as a professional I would recommend that you hire a professional by Google not social media as to many cowboy's around. Yeah it's going to cost you a lot more the £55 but if you want a job doing properly and rite then pay the extra at least then you know your carpets will be as clean and germ free as possible plus your not using your own time and energy and a carpet cleaning professional will will get the job done in a timely manner.
