There is little that can equate to the satisfaction accrued from creating value from seemingly nothing. This what drives me to study business related degree. By the age of 14 I had sold my first enterprise, cultivating a brand from nothing. For the past 4 years I have run and sold several successful, profitable, online businesses. Using my initiative, I'd turned my growing social media accounts, which when totalled came to over 60 thousand followers, as a platform to help charities. Through self motivation and perseverance, I have earned this unique insight, which has given me the opportunity to network with a diverse set of people from across the globe or mainly Asians. It has taught me how to write a business plan, develop my customer service skills and manage my finances. This has sparked my curiosity to learn more about the workings behind a successful firm and the economy in which they run. Having been introduced to Behavioural Economics in class, I chose to supplement my studies with further reading. Dan Ariely's 'Decoy Theory' in "Predictably Irrational" was eye opening. I was intrigued by how enterprises use gentle nudges to capitalise on human behaviour. Afterwards, I found it hard to ignore its presence in everyday life and I have been able to implement this philosophy into my own business plan. Through reading "The Everything Store" by Brand Stone, who captured the entrepreneurial spirt of Jeff Bezos, I gained an understanding of the importance of organisational structures in enabling a business to achieve its objectives. He explained how Amazon made money from being an affiliate website and charging 8% commission, which coincidentally reflected my own business model. This deepened my interest in the world of commerce. I have taken further these areas of importance, through my online 6-week MOOC course covering knowledge management, big data and business analytics. This led me to explore my own YouTube statistics further, as technology advancements are not only changing the conventional way we manage organisations but also interpret data and harness data management technology. Career insight days at Nomura and PwC have allowed me to visualise an end goal of growing my own business, whilst seeing behind the scenes of a bank and how businesses can work at different levels. I read a 'TechInAsia' article on how Nomura gave opportunities to, the now multimillionaire, Kazumasa Tomita, after he built his social marketing business in college. I strive to had similar entrepreneurial traits and marketing skills and possibly one day, I might be as successful as he is. Studying other entrepreneurs has stimulated my determination to create value and worth. Seeing the practical application of management and economic theory has only strengthened my resolve to study Economics and Management. Being the Head of Society for event management in school for entire AS year and a business owner along with my A levels has boost me a lot with my time management and leadership skills. Participation in MUN sessions has taught me the importance of having a shared vision and collaboration. Through cohesion we excelled in marketing and finance to create a charity campaign. In recent times I got the opportunity to be a part of huge event FIFA World Cup 22 to volunteer it on many different occasions which gave me the best results with my communication skills and leadership. I enjoy the responsibility of leading clubs and house events, as well as passing on my desire of being a business man through establishing the Entrepreneurship Society. I have hosted and led discussions with entrepreneurs, sharing their business ideas and helping with good suggestions. I hope this legacy will inspire others into a similar growth mindset that I have experienced as it is imperative that innovation continues to lead to the creation of value. I have the tenacity to study Business and Management at higher level along the experiences university life will offer me.
