ISRO launched Free 5-day Online certification course for students

Here's a piece of exciting and learning-packed news for all the science enthusiasts! The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), through the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), is welcoming applications from school understudies for a 5-days free certified online course, titled “Usefulness of Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental Studies”.

Main focus of the course

• As indicated by an official notice on the IIRS website, the course targets bringing issues to light- amongst school teens on the core concept of Remote Sensing Technology- and its implication in the study of our environmental conditions and planet Earth.
• Students will be taught how one can employ data gathered from satellites orbiting the Earth and certain image processing techniques to understand the complexities of the climate.
• For starters, Remote Sensing Technology is a scientific process that aims at identifying and checking the actual attributes of space by estimating its reflected and discharged radiation from a distance, which can be done via satellite or airplanes.
• In-built thermal sensitive cameras on satellites can also be used to make pictures of temperature changes in our large water bodies.

1. Go to the official website to register for the free 5-days online course on the “Usefulness of Remote Sensing and GIS for Environmental Studies”, offered by IIRS, the center of the Indian Space Research Organization.
2. Carefully go through the course brochure and read about the entire course notice and procedure.
3. Go on the registration page to register as a student for the course by filling in all your basic details and uploading your latest passport size photo in .jpg or .png format.
4. When you successfully submit your application, you will get the required login accreditations on your registered email address which will be your key for accessing the LMS portal.

About Indian Institute of Remote Sensing

The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) - is a constituent unit of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Govt. of India. Since its establishment in 1966, IIRS is a key player for training and capacity building in geospatial technology and its applications through training, education and research in Southeast Asia. The training, education and capacity building programmes of the Institute are designed to meet the requirements of Professionals at working levels, fresh graduates, researchers, academia, and decision makers.
