Is there an afterlife?

What if death isn’t the end?

Is there an afterlife???

What if death isn’t the end? NDEs may complicate what science teaches us about death and consciousness.

Thousands of people across the world and throughout the centuries have reported near-death experiences (NDEs). Most NDEs share one common trait: an overwhelming sense of spirituality and connection with the Divine.

Most near-death experiencers around the world say that their spirituality increased after their near-death experience.

Broadly speaking, what they mean is a sense of connection to others, nature, the universe, and God.

One of the questions people often ask about near-death experiences is whether they are evidence of surviving death.

They do not provide evidence to others.

They are evidence indeed for those who experience it, but not for the rest of us.

But there are some experiences that provide at least some evidence, if not proof.

And these are cases in which the experiencer encounters a dead person who was not yet known to have died at the time.

A friend of mine named Jack was hospitalized in his mid-twenties and had a nurse with him every day.

Then one day she told him she was taking a long weekend off and another nurse would come in her place.

And while she was gone, he again went into respiratory failure and needed to be resuscitated.

During his arrest, he had a near-death experience in a beautiful rural setting.

And to his surprise, Anita, the nurse, came up to him and said, "Jack, you can't stay here.

" myself.

I have to get back to my body.

And I want you to find my parents and tell them that I love them and that I'm sorry for ruining the red MGB.

” And then he woke up again in his own body in a hospital bed and was the first to try to tell his parents.

A nurse entered his room.

She was so upset that she left her room in a hurry.

It turns out that her nurse Anita took the weekend off to celebrate her birthday and her parents surprised her with the gift of a red MGB for her 21st birthday.

She became very upset and jumped in her car and drove off, losing control of her and crashing into her utility pole, and she died hours before Jack had his near-death experience.

Now I could not have known or expected that she would die.

And sure, she had no way of knowing how she died, but he found out nonetheless.

And that seems to be proof that something about this nurse Anita remained even after death and was able to convey accurate information to Jack.

Does this mean we will live forever?

necessarily.

It certainly means that something in our minds can survive the death of our physical body, at least temporarily.

Almost every near-death experiencer I spoke to said without a doubt that we move on after death.

No matter how they describe their near-death experience, they describe it as existing without a body.

When they felt better than ever, even though their bodies were almost dead.

There must be more to the world than the physical realm that explains these events.

I think the ultimate question raised by near-death experiences is: What are humans? Are we just physical machines?

Are we spiritual beings?

Do we have both?

I don't know the answer, but now I feel much better not having one.

I think the important part of near-death experiences is what they tell us about the life we're living now.

That we are all connected.

That we are not individuals, but part of something bigger.
