INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KANPUR

In 1959, there was an Act of Parliament by which IIT Kanpur was established. This institute was started in December 1959. At first, there was just a small room in the building of the Harcourt Butler Technological Institute at Agricultural Gardens in Kanpur where this institute was started. Thereafter in 1963, the institutes moved at the present location of it.

This institute was the first established in Computer Science Education in 1963. IIT Kanpur encourages the critical thinking of students. The teachers were not only engaged in class but also, they regularly interact with their students. The teachers and staffs are very approachable to IIT. The students are provided the basic facilities to talk to any faculty anytime, there is no space for fear or awe for students. IIT Kanpur gives an inspiring environment with learning facilities. Education

Research

The IIT Kanpur provides research at a higher level. There are a diversity of research projects and is a measure of the strong track record of research. Departments

There are several departments in IIT Kanpur.

Biological Sciences and Engineering: - With the aim to provide multidisciplinary research and teaching in biology and bioengineering, the IIT established the department of Biological Sciences and Engineering. Here the students get ample opportunities to do researches over biology and engineering sciences. They provided basic infrastructure in this field for the students to achieve great success in this field.

Civil Engineering: - IIT Kanpur has the best department of civil engineering. It provides high-quality technology for industries.

Computer Science and Engineering: - As it was mentioned that IIT Kanpur was the fist to establish a field for Computer Science in India. They do researches over several areas including Computer Networks, Languages, etc.

Earth Sciences: - It provides a new field for undergraduate students to involve in Earth Sciences. They focus on major tools and techniques. They have designed five modules also including Water and Climate; Applied Geophysics; Solid Earth; Natural Hazards and Applied Geology.

Mechanical Engineering: - this is the one of the founding areas of this institute. They have the best tools to deal with this area. They do pedagogical practices also to provide their student the best.

Mathematics & Scientific Computing: - like all other fields, this field of IIT has also the best facilities. It provides the student to analyze the pattern mathematical creativity.

Cultural Facilities

IIT provides the bulk of cultural activities. It organizes several functions for the whole year. The college provides ample opportunities for their student so that they can take part in various cultural activities. Music club: - IIT Kanpur provides a stage for those who are interested in instrumental as well as vocal activities. The college provides an opportunity for students to learn and enjoy various forms of music.

Dance club: - IIT provides the best field to improve an individual's identity. They organized several events to improve someone's extracurricular activity. They put effort to show the talent of their student.

Sports Club

IIT Kanpur has great sports facilities. Since the students are so busy compiling their assignments as well as their projects and assessment, the college provides them enough time to boost their power. The college gives time to the students to restrain their power. Basically, it is hard for the student to get time for extra activities. So IIT provides them these opportunities. IIT students have achieved good academic performance in college. They also evolved the coordination and enthusiasm for the studies as well as the athletic program. IIT has two large fields of cricket, a long track covering 400 meters. It has a separate field for every game including football, volleyball, etc. They also provide areas for indoor games like badminton stadiums, weightlifting areas, table tennis rooms, gymnastic room, etc.

Student Ethics

IIT Kanpur provides a better place for the students to interact with minded people. They provide a better place for good students to grow and learn together. The students are provided to make good friends here. This college makes a student a better person with full confidence. IIT Kanpur gives full freedom to its student but with reasonable restrictions. It is a basic feature of IIT. It is provided for student to establish their own club if interested.
