The teacher mentioned, "Girls are more suitable to study finance, study management, and later employment!" Sitting on the stage, Candace was confused and enrolled in the investment management program recommended by the teacher. She found it interesting and a good way to pass the time, and often sat at her desk all day to work on clay.

Candace's work

After the official start of school, Candace realized that she wasn't interested in the investment management program, and she had more time after school, so Candace wanted to "have some more fun" and started a little hobby of clay making in her dorm room.

The students in the same dormitory saw her QQ emoji bag and posted it in their circle of friends. Someone left a message, "Can you make a set of dolls for me, I'll pay for it".

This is Candace's first order. According to the customer's request, she needs to make 7 frogs, 7 ducklings, and 7 pigs. What is the right price? It takes 2 to 3 days to make such a group of dolls, plus the cost, Candace set a selling price of 68 yuan.

Run your hobby!

In her junior year, Candace, who majored in investment management, entered an internship at an insurance company in Wuhan. She was not interested in insurance and was not very interested in her work. When her department head saw Candace's clay handicrafts in her circle of friends, he talked to her and suggested that she should "run her hobby well" and dismissed her.

It was the last month before the end of her internship, and she didn't dare to tell her parents because her dismissal meant she wouldn't get her internship certificate. Her counselor, who had made a custom doll set from Candace, suggested, "Why don't you open an online store and start your own business?" The year she graduated, Candace submitted proof of her online store operation, applied for self-employment, and officially became a freelance craftsman.

After graduation, Candace stayed at home to continue her crafting hobby. In school, Candace used clay to make dolls, but the clay was flexible and soft, making it difficult to turn the mold. After graduation, Candace at home to study the production of soft clay dolls, to the real Q version of the custom orders as the main work.

Taobao orders plus previous customer referrals, home business Candace daily sitting at a desk busy. Her mother is worried that she "sits at home every day, and society is out of touch with what to do?" The company's main goal is to provide a platform for the company's customers to make sure that they have a good understanding of the market.

After opening the Taobao store, a company found Candace through Taobao, and she reached a cooperation agreement: the company's employees' birthday will send the week in advance of the staff photos, please she made adult dolls, as a birthday benefit employees.

After that, another company approached Candace, hoping she could make the company's mascot into a hand puppet. This company first asked Candace to make samples, and in the later revision process, Candace realized that the orders requested by the customer required batch, uniform, and detailed production. It was difficult for her to meet this requirement by handcrafting. After communicating with the client, Candace missed out on the large order. This made Candace realize that it was time for her to look outside her home and learn by herself.

Lucky? Hard work!

Willing to pay and persevere for the interest

During that time, Candace began to learn about the career requirements to become a prototype artist through the Internet. She noticed that her little "doll making" had become a new profession in China, called a doll prototyper, whose job is to create a prototype of a doll model for mass production.

In September 2018, Candace found a handmade prototyping course online and signed up to study in Tianjin for a month, hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the prototyping industry. During the study period, she posted the results of her assignments to the Idle Fish App for display. In June of the following year, a handicraft studio in Fujian saw Candace's handicraft work on display and made her an offer. After passing the studio's evaluation, Candace officially joined the studio.

Candace learned to make prototypes by hand in Tianjin, which was relatively inefficient. Candace seized the opportunity and asked her colleagues to teach her 3D modeling methods every day. In just a few months, Candace's skills were comparable to those of her colleagues, and she was able to meet the needs of her daily work.

But Candace was still not satisfied with her business level, she still wanted to learn more in-depth. After working in Fujian for two years, Candace resigned last year and went to Shanghai at her own expense to learn 3D modeling of handbag prototypes for 20,000 yuan.

After four months of study, on the recommendation of a friend in the same class, after the Spring Festival this year, Candace entered a handicraft company in Ningbo to work. When interviewed, Candace told Changjiang Daily reporter, she is very satisfied with her current job, surrounded by colleagues who are the same as her love of handicraft creation, we will discuss together, bursting out different inspirations, which is her ideal work state.

Recently, Candace, who graduated four years ago, was selected as an outstanding alumnus by her alma mater, Wuhan Vocational College of Commerce. The person in charge of the school told Yangtze River Daily on April 12 that the willingness to study and keep learning for what she likes is the most valuable thing about Candace. I hope students will follow Candace's example and focus on what they love and work hard for it.

At the end of the interview, the reporter asked her to give some advice to students, and Candace said the same thing: "If you find your interest and keep working on it, you will get something out of it."
