I Sent Her My PDF at 3am. She Posted it to 300 People. My Name Saved Me
The night i learned that your 3am is not charity
Final year. Computer Engineering. 3am before the exam.
I sent Bola my complete PDF.
I woke up to 15 missed calls.
She posted it to the 300-person class group.
My name. My student number. Everything.
They said real friends help each other secure the future, others said last last na we dey for each other. One of my lectures said If you can help then help. But no one told me that helping could actually expel me from school.
She posted it 30 minutes later. 4:02am.
She didn’t delete my name. Didn’t remove my student number. Nothing.
She told the group: “This is what I came up with after all-night research. Make una enjoy.”
My phone exploded. Calls. WhatsApp. Telegram. That was when I knew there was fire on the mountain.
The worst DM: “Mr and Mrs have done a great job. I hope this gets an A+”
Hostel toilet. Morning.
I was easing myself when my phone blew up.
I saw it. I became the talk of the class.
I pressed my face into tissue and screamed.
Thank God my roommate was 2 feet away.
All I could think: shame, ridicule, isolation.
And expulsion. They’ll rusticate me before noon.
Exam hall. 9am sharp.
The lecturer Dr. Krepi dropped the papers. Smiled. “I changed 60% of the questions last night.”
300 people froze.
I flipped through. He wasn’t lying. The easy ones were gone. The past questions Bola shared? Useless.
But question 3b was still there. The killer. The one that wasn’t in any textbook.
Only in my personal notes. Page 7. The hand-written part.
Bola deleted page 7. She said it “didn’t make sense.” She told the group my PDF was “too long.”
300 people flipped to page 7 in their printed copies. Blank. Nothing.
Then they all looked at me.
The hall was silent. Pens down. My name was still on their papers. My student number.
I was the only one writing.
For 2 hours, I wrote. They watched.
Bola submitted blank.
Your notes are not charity. Last last, na your name dey the certificate, not your squad.
Silence is also a strategy. You don’t owe everyone your 3am. Some people just want to pass, not learn.
Not every “friend” wants you to win. Some want you to bleed with them. Misery loves a class group.
I passed with an A. Dr. Krepi called me to his office after. He said, “I saw page 7.”
Bola repeated the course. She unfollowed me that same day.
I didn’t lose a friend. I lost wahala. I scored 92% in the course and that felt like freedom. Not the grade, the lesson.
Be honest: Were you ever betrayed by a “friend” during exam season?
Or were YOU the Bola in someone’s story? The one who took and ran?
Sharing someone’s work without their name, their permission, their page 7, is theft. Plain and simple.
I almost got rusticated for helping. My student number saved me and exposed her.
Would you have forgiven Bola after she posted your whole PDF to 300 people?
Tell me below. No judgment. But no lies either. I’m reading every comment and listening.
And if you’re a final year student: guard your 3am. Guard your page 7.
Because last last, your grade na your own. Not the group’s. Share this to that one friend who needs to hear it.
