Introduction to HTML

HTML IS Hypertext Markup Language.

HTML is the Standard markup language to creating web pages.

HTML History

HTML 1991:-

1991 Tim Berner-Lee publicly posted the HTML in a document HTML Tags. The first version of the HTML elements 18 which mostly influenced by SGML :- Standard Generalized Markup Language except for the hyperlink. 11 of those 18 elements exist in the HTML4.

The basic characteristics for each element defined the browsers and characteristics can be modified and enhanced using CSS.

1991 -1993 year :-

HTML 1.0 was first released in the 1993 for developers.

html back then not many developers were creating websites so it was evolving slowly during those time.

This version only had basic tags text, even tables and fonts were not available in this version.

HTML Nov 24, 1995 :-

This year HTML 2.0 was published. All the features of HTML 1.0 were inherited in the HTML 2.0 plus new features were added. Until the release of HTML 3.0, it remains the standard markup language for the creating websites

HTML Jan 14, 1997:-

HTML 3.2 published in 1997 as the W3C Recommendation

It was the first version of HTML which was developed by the W3C

In this version, there was the good support for the form elements

One of the most important thing that was added in this version support of the CSS

HTML 1999 year:-

HTML 4.01 was the published as W3C Recommendation on Dec 14, 1999

This version was the most successful of all previous on HTML released versions

In this version features like multimedia and scripting, better printing features and more were added.

After the release of HTML 4.01, no newer version of the HTML was released for the many years because W3C's HTML working group on building the language XHTML.

HTML 2014 year:-

HTML5 the latest version of HTML was the released on Oct 28, 2014.

It was the extended version of HTML 4.01 published in 2012.

Many new tags were added in this the version like <header>, <footer>, <main>, <video>, etc

HTML5 support mathML and SVG in text.

HTML Page Structure

1] <!DOCTYPE html > :- This tag use to the it declares a document as being an html document

2]<head> :- head tag container for metadata. metadata mean -data about data. metadata is not displayed. metadata is typically define the document title, character set, style ,script and other metadata information .

3] <title>:- title tag use to web page a title. title found in the browser title bar display. title tag use search engine results pages display. website title tag

4] <body> :- body tag use content of a webpage. and body content is what the browser show data

5] <html> :- html tag use root element.
