Source One is a quote from Noam Chomsky, who is a significant contributor to Sociology. Chomsky’s statement represents the underlying issues of free speech and different perspectives. If we do not have the right to free speech then we do not have the right to express ourselves or have individual rights, which are very important aspects of modern liberalism. Acknowledging this ability for self-expression as significant ties to the idea of a more society; recognizing others’ beliefs as important no matter how much we dislike them.Throughout Canadian history Free Speech has been an aspect of tension in our culture and society, even though in modern times in Canada Is a very vital aspect of our rights and freedoms In the past when settlers first came to Canada Free Speech and self-expression were devalued amongst First Nations people as more and more Indigenous children were sent to residential schools where they were stripped of their language and culture stripping of their right to free speech. Freedom of speech is also a vital aspect in the communication of information. For example, freedom of speech is extremely important in Canada and we can even see it being represented through the news at times with us having new stations that are paid for by the government and new stations that are separate. This ability to spread information nationwide freely and with the ability for the government to support some of this spread of knowledge and information financially is beneficial to our ability for free speech which is a freedom protected by the Charter of Rights.

Source 2 is a quote from Idi Amin Who was the president(Dictator) of Uganda . His opinion discusses the negative ramifications of expressing one's beliefs in a country that. This Source shows the shift from Modern liberalism to Classic liberalism in the removal of expression of speech and expression of self. That there can be inherent consequences for expressing yourself in a society that wants to individualism to achieve this his belief system that he seeked out was close to Thomas Hobbes in the idea of a supreme leader that controlled the people, a Leviathan.Relevant example of this is further back in history with theLuddites trying to express their beliefs against machines which were stealing their jobs, but ultimately being suppressed by the government and having negative consequences for their lives. Another example from the 1800s is Charters back when rights were scarce and they want and these people wanted workers' rights they tried to pass around forums and documents and express their free speech at first it was working positively and then the government stepped it disbanding the organization and Using their powers to distort the Public's perception of them. There are not only past political connections in this idea, there are present political day connections that we can see through Donald Trump. We can see through Trump's behavior that Free Speech throughout the country is heavily suppressed and is not allowed in many groups, even the firing of Jimmy Kimmel, a well-known comedian. Represents the level of scrutiny that free speech is under with Trump being in power.

The image was made by an artist who is conveying the horrifying negative impacts of being under fascist rule. Most specifically, this discusses the reign of Hitler and all of the groups of individuals that were suppressed by him and faced extremely horrendous conditions and abuse. This image discusses the move from Modern liberalism to liberalism when a dictator is in power. This quote from the image is significant because it has a deeper representation of the ideas of freedom and a dictatorship and that the illusion of Freedom can be there without the actual semblance of freedom:“In the past 3 years I have Restored honor and freedom to the German people”.The freedom of expression is revoked by the individuals in power; it is easier to take away individual rights and freedoms. We've seen this kind of instance dating back as far as the French Revolution and the 1800s. Extreme powers that want well tend to use many tactics to stay in charge. The Jacobins’ tactics were to any slander against them and stop other uprisings by executing people that would speak out against it during the reign of terror. You can even see this restriction of information in the modern day with China and North Korea heavily restricting the flow of information through social media.

All of the have in common the theme of Free Speech . Source One discusses the threat to three speech and the idea that if one group of individuals is targeted and their free speech is removed that it can spread amongst the society like a disease eventually preventing all people from expressing themselves.Source 2 expresses the belief that when it comes to free speech that it can be under Threat by the government, but not necessarily be a spoken belief that is based on specific threats and that it can be an under looming aspect of a fascist government making sure the people who Express themselves are silenced. Sorcery is the end in the stepping sounds of source one and two showing that no matter what kind of fascist government they will make it seem like the world is fine and that these people still have rights even though they can be suppressing many groups and causing a Marriott of issues and suffering. We can see these changes in rights to free speech and several instances including Hitler's Reign,Stalin's rain and even Donald Trump's current presidency in the government. All of the sources reflect the turn towards fascism starting off with Source One as some people acknowledging that The rights of others being in Jeopardy jeopardizes their own rights and then source to being an active threat of free speech being punishable by death or imprisonment and Source three is an amalgamation of Source One and Two showing that when a fascist leader gets into power and minimizes free speech that They can say whatever they want and make it truth. Hitler can be implicated in some manner in all three of the sources through the way that we can see his rule turning when it comes to free speech and self-expression. House first three can act directly to Source One is through the scapegoating and targeting of specific groups and that eventually spreading into the entire country Source One discusses the idea that if one group does not have free speech that itthat jeopardizes all the groups. DuringHitler's reign by focusing on the Jews at first Hitler created fear and mass panic not allowing for free speech and slowly removing Jewish people's rights which then turned into everyone's rights. In Source 2 how it connects to Source 3 is that there were individuals who tried to speak out against this only to face extreme consequences like execution or being in prison. This shows the connection between the illusion of free speech and how it can quickly be taken away by a dictatorship. We could also see this in Stalin's reignrain as he targeted the Jewish population to isolate the spread of information and eventually take away people's rights to freedom of speech filling the public and the media with propaganda promoting his rule and eliminating anyone who went against him. We can also see this through Trump's current position and power when it comes to the monitorization of the media and the removal of certain belief systems and propaganda being spread through news sources and social platforms. We haven't seen anything as detrimental yet for the source to section during Trump's present presidency however we have seen many instances of individuals being fired for speaking against Trump and his belief system. We can see the categories of source 3 being met by Trump's focusing on trans rights and racial minorities as a scapegoat for lots of the crisis that the country is facing.

Switching to modern day liberalism has both positive and negative impacts to our present-day society. The aspects of both Challenge and benefit with modern day liberalism include globalization, human rights and the economic impact.

Globalization as a concept encompasses many aspects of modern day liberalism. The challenges with globalization in a moderate liberalist sSociety are mainly tied to the Industrial Revolution and the integration of belief systems that surround capitalism. The practice of capitalism is attributed in part to modern day liberalist ideologies in the idea that we should be allowed the freedom to participate in a free market economy. Examples of how this aspect of modern day liberalism negatively impacts Society are Consumerism, extreme individualism and The ideology of profit over people. Consumerism has a ginormous impact as it's closely tied to Capitalism and globalization consumerism is the idea that we need to purchase or have a lot of material things in order for us to be happy and fulfilled as human beings. Customers have caused many negative impacts to the environment such as pollution through shipping in the pollution issues through the manufacturing process and persistent issues with managing around waste caused by over consumption of these things. The positive aspects of globalization come with the negative aspects in that we have the freedom to produce things to be able to spread companies and organizations throughout the world, that we have this spread and access to information and technology across the globe.

Modern day liberalism also brought us concepts in Canada like the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which gives us the ability to express ourselves and feel free and safe in our own country. Modern day liberalism also a lot along with allowing this human rights in some countries also gives the ability for governments to shift laws and legislation and individuals in acting in those rights to get rid of the ability for other people to also feel safe and have their rights respected in the country. For example with the freedom of right of self-expression and on a basic level individuality a person can make the active choice to commit hate crimes eExpress views that may cause damage or hurt to other individuals and behave in ways that are specifically to their benefit. Several examples of this exist throughout history with the implantation of modern-day liberalism including globalized companies using individuals with less privileges or rights as basically slaves to manufacture certain gGoods. Rituals using freedom of the press or free speech to promote fear mongering Towards different groups. this concept of using free speech to create fear in the masses includes inaccurate or incorrect information regarding covid, the belief that people can be turned into homosexuals spreading racist and bigoted ideologies that can cause harm Many groups that are not Caucasian.

Modern day liberalism has also caused many issues around economic disparity and belief systems that can be helpful to an economy spreading or belief systems that can negatively impact the economy and the people. You can see examples both through the American economy and how at times there has been depressions and recessions due to the volatility of capitalism. Volatility of capitalism has benefited many people but has also harmed many people throughout its inception and existence including creating a modern day disparity in wealth among the individuals in the country. However, capitalism isn't the only economic system that has been implemented as a product of liberalism, including free market socialism and financial aid. What's present in the Canadian economy and has been implemented to assist individuals in the implementation of these practices in the creation of this economy are products of free thoughts in the ability to express one's own opinions through a democracy.
