Abacus Maths Classes

It is a proven fact that the majority of brain development takes place until the child attains the age of 15, and there are specific techniques available to boost the development of both the left and right brain of kids. While we all probably know that abacus maths classes help improve mental arithmetic skills, let us understand how they actually work.

The secret behind Abacus Maths Classes Improve Mental Arithmetic Skills

Abacus is an alternate way to do arithmetic calculations. In other words, we can also say it is like learning a new language different from the mother tongue where if your mother tongue is English or Hindi, Abacus can be similar to a language of some other country e.g. Korea. It uses a rectangular tool consisting of beads. Note that beads are used to represent the numbers.

Basic Steps — Bead movement

· Initially children learn to operate the beads on the tool, which means moving it to different position to represent each unique number from 1 to 9

· Then children learn to operate the beads to represent each unique double digit and so on. The concept remains same, so once the child understands how to represent a doubt digit number, he can easily represent the 3-digit a higher number as well

· Now comes the calculation part. The trainer reached the child how to add / subtract /multiply and divide the numbers by moving the beads

Visualization

The real secret behind Abacus is the magic of Visualization, which can be defined as a process where a child creates a picture or an image of the tool in his mind. And then he just virtually moves the bead to represent the next number on the tool and updates the image of the tool in his mind after every step. This process is totally based on hand-eye-ear coordination and hence increases the basic human senses manifold. Additionally, the child is taught to use both hands to do the finger movement when he does virtual movement of the beads, and this is a very effective exercise to enable both right and left brain. A child who masters this art becomes an expert and is often called a human calculator.

How to decide which Abacus Maths classes to enroll

Now that we understand the importance and advantages of abacus, the obvious next step is to decide where to join the Abacus classes. Broadly there are following options to choose from:

· Abacus Online Classes — This mode gives you the maximum options in terms of trainers since you can avail the services of any trainer across the globe. For this simple reason we usually recommend going online. Mathcruise is one of the emerging training academies for which we have heard good reviews that the trainer is highly qualified and forms a good bond with the kids, and then there are old players like UCMAS and SIP Abacus.

· Physical classes within your vicinity e.g. Abacus classes in Pune or Abacus classes in Delhi — If you have any constraints (example your child is too young to follow the online mode) then you can also opt for physical classes near to your place. However, you must remember that this limits your options to that specific location, hence you should do thorough research to ensure the quality of the trainer.

You should be all set to start the Abacus Course journey now — let’s get rolling!
