When Richard M. first walked into prison, he wasn’t just carrying the weight of a long sentence—he carried regret, confusion, and a deep emptiness in his soul. Forty years behind bars stretched ahead of him like forever. And with no real connection to God, hope felt far out of reach.

I was baptized when I was a kid,” Richard recalls.

As Richard dug deeper into Scripture, something changed. Once I started learning about God’s Word, I couldn’t stop, he says. It was like something came alive in me.

“God gave me a purpose,” he says. “He showed me that even someone like me—someone with a broken past—can be used for something good.”

And much of that, he says, is thanks to ICCS. “They believed in me. They gave me the chance to grow and to understand what it means to live for something bigger than myself.”
