Racism and discrimination back in the day while dealing with other issues of living. Al Schnupp has written a novel entitled 'Goods and Effects' about the main character of Hannah and how she deals with what she is going through. Hannah starts her own business and while making business contacts makes friends along the way that want to help in any way they can. 'Goods and Effects' is a story to overcome obstactles in a variety of ways.
Al Schnupp is a novelist who shows how historical events can make us do what is needed and still keep our heads through his show and tell writing. As the reader I felt as was taking part in the activities at the Negro farm. These events spurred many events to come that were good for all involved. The cover art that I suppose is Hannah depicting the feelings that she had to the times politically, economically, socially and even religiously. Hannah is depicted as a wife and mother then as an independent business woman who survives at all costs. She is a leader and helper, and the writer shows this clear through the whole book. 'Goods and Effects' is a fine title for this novel by Al Schnupp for Hannah as the goods and her goods effects the community around her all through time.

Louisana, but in particular the bayou have many secrets that are well hidden except if you knew where to look for them. The main character of Jeannine LaRue and her living with her past with her present with the help of her friend Curtis Jones she will begin to deal with her nightmares, and learn to live life with what her family history has dealt her for her life.
R.B. Wood has written 'Bayou Whispers' using very illustrative vocabulary that it made the reader feel as if I were in New Orleans and the bayou even if it is just the humidity and remembering various stories and what they bring with them. The cover art gives the reader gives the reader a chill just by seeing the use of the colors blue and green with the skulls in the seaweed, and with the whitecaps of the dark waters along witht he building being taken back by nature and disappearing. Even with the title 'Bayou Whispers' drawn or written as riffs of wind and smoke to show that the reader could or will see and feel some terror that the various characters will feel. 'Bayou Whispers' would be a great example for an American literature course that dealt in horror/thriller and even psychological horror drama.

It is a chapter book that is a fast read and quite fun. There are plenty of lessons for the readers to learn like how to make friends in a proper way as well as the wrong and learning the difference between the two ways.
