Franck Muller Presents The Long Island Evolution Trilogy

Nestled amidst picturesque Swiss landscapes, Watchland serves as a testament to Franck Muller's unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation in watchmaking. As we stepped into this horological wonderland, we were greeted by a stunning array of timepieces, each a masterpiece in its own right. The meticulous attention to detail and the fusion of traditional Swiss watchmaking techniques with avant-garde design principles left us in awe. From the intricate complications to the breathtakingly beautiful dials, every element exuded a sense of luxury and sophistication. One collection that truly caught our attention was the new trio - the Long Island Evolution Master Jumper, the Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon and the Long Island Evolution 7 Days Power Reserve. The architectural style of Long Island elegantly nods to the Art Deco era with its distinctive take on the Novecento aesthetic. This range has garnered considerable attention within Franck Muller's offerings, thanks to its rectangular shape and distinctive numerals. This year, at Watchland we were introduced to a new evolution to the Long Island case, an additional inner bezel to secure the movement. Given that the Maison designs, develops, and produces its cases, dials, and movements independently at Watchland, Franck Muller is one of the few watchmakers that can develop movements designed to fit precisely each case. For this trio, Muller went with a green aluminium inner case with a black titanium exterior, all further highlighted by openworked dials or movements. Long Island Evolution Master Jumper.jpg Long Island Evolution Master Jumper We at The Hour Markers are quite the fans of the digital display of time. We’ve seen watches that digitally display the hours and minutes, hours and seconds, but what we have here is a triple jumping complication. The Hours, minutes, and the date are indicated through a complex mechanism of jumping discs that can be seen in action on that openworked dial. Driving the Master Jumper is Franck Muller's FM 3100 movement, a manually wound caliber showcasing a 30-hour power reserve, with twin independent barrels powering the time display and date separately. The movement's intricate open-worked design and futuristic dark finish seamlessly complement the watch's overall aesthetic. Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon.jpg Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon Here’s a sight you would not want to miss - a giant tourbillon, occupying the entire lower half of the case, in action. Iconic and majestic, the Giga Tourbillon is a true feat of engineering. With its 20 mm tourbillon cage, it is at the heart of this watch and represents one of the largest and most visible designs ever designed. Limited to 8 pieces only, this Giga tourbillon could be a bit overwhelming for a few, but then again it's a Franck Muller. Long Island Evolution 7-Day Power Reserve.jpg Long Island Evolution 7 Days Power Reserve And finally here is the seemingly simpler addition to the Long Island Evolution Trio, a time-only version with a 7 days power reserve to back it. But it has its own personality, with those bold luminescent hour markers, openworked front and back and the small seconds indicator.
