Earth Cat Zero Last Cat Meowing

Gary Starta

2020

Vortex Pie Press

ISBN: 67068010

450 pages

When science can go too far in discovering ideas. 'Earth Cat Zero Last Cat Meowing' by Gary Starta is a science fiction novel that sort of introduces the subject of physics in the way of vocabulary and the creation of the 'cat' Earth Cat Zero. Other main characters are Caron Ellis and Miranda and their pet cat by the name of Joule. Other characters are Normand, Dr. Brands and a few other supporting characters that fit well into the story of science and espionage. Physics is a subject that is also also a major character in 'Earth Cat Zero Last Cat Meowing'. The terminology that is used throughout the story describes all about how Earth Cat Zero are 'particle collider', 'acceleration', and a few other choice words. 'Earth Cat Zero Last Cat Meowing' is in a way a science fiction/fantasy/mystery along with political intrigue all wrapped together.

Gary Starta has written a novel in a great show and tell presentation bringing together many facets of language and relationships. This is a great story of making friends whether human and/or animal. Gary Starta wrote this book in my opinion is a way to introduce the advance science of physics and how this subject affects us all in may ways and means.

In the Dream House- A Memoir

Carmen Maria Machado

2019

ISBN: 978-1-64445-073-4

Graywolf Press

252 pages

What a different world she lives in presently and her past. 'In the Dream House A Memoir' by Carmen Maria Machado tells her story of a few life choices that she has made over her lifetime of living her life. Carmen made friends and lovers over her time on earth and the various issues that she and 'her' friends must work their way through from their childhood to their adult choices that they made and may make in the present and the future.

'In the Dream House A Memoir' does use language that is for adults, but with the life that Carmen has led and is now living. This is a book that could be used by counselors and social workers, who work with the LGBTQ communities. The footnotes were a help to further understand the choices that she has made and is making. 'In the Dream House' is a book of choosing a preferred lifestyle that makes one happy. It is a somewhat quick read with its' short chapters as well as it being written in journal form. One recommendation I would give to Carmen is 'wasn't there another word or phrase you could have used instead of a certain four letter word. This is definitely an adult read or for college students trying to see where they fit in with making various friends and relationships.

Space Throne

Brian Corley

2020

ISBN: 978-0-578-70595-8 (paperback)

Electric Fern

318 pages

What a concept for a science fiction story. 'Space Throne' a science fiction novel for young adults written by Brian Foley. This is a story that kind of reminds of the 'Star Wars' trilogy along with all the other 'Star Wars' type stories. 'Space Throne' is the story of a man named Parr and his search of who he really wants and wanted to be. Parr and his friends Manc, Ren and Aurora all have a job to do that will affect all of them.

'Space Throne' is also a story that allows the reader to experience, even though imaginary the world of outerspace and all the creatures along with the sounds and languages that each could possess. Teachers who teach Creative writing and other Reading courses could use this book to introduce the concept of or style of writing known as science fiction and ask the question 'Could this really happen?'

The cover art of 'Space Throne' by Brian Corley works for me for the colors chosen for this cover for me depicts what some of places that Parr visited. Brian is a writer that makes his characters believeable and his settings realistic. I wanted to ride and see these places for he wrote the story in a very creative manner, so that the reader will savor each of the situations given, but do not eat the 'hot' snacks while you are reading the story.
