You finally got your acceptance letter to your dream school, congrats!! You’re leaving the high school life and everything is totally going to change. Trust me, it will. There are no longer those cliques you’re used to seeing during lunch period. Matter of fact, there’s no lunch period. The best part of college is you can choose what class to take and at what time you’d like to take it. After experiencing my first year in college, I can say I will definitely enjoy the rest of the three years I have left. The habits you had in high school have the go. They need to be left behind, abandoned because college is a rollercoaster. But this is not to scare you into thinking college is hard. It won’t be hard, you just have to grind and work hard. But what I am going to talk about are all the great moments you’re going to have.

Game Days!

These are the most lit times in your whole college career. Game days are amazing, because you’re cheering for your team, spending time with your friends, and you’re simply having a good time.

Tailgating

Tailgating is done before the games. Make sure you wake up early to go to tailgates so you don’t deal with drunk people around shoving you. But tailgating is one of the most fun things you can do during football season. Grab the beer can, shotgun it, enjoy the food, then enjoy the game after. These moments are perfect Instagram moments.

Greek Life

Greek life is well known in college and I highly encourage you to join a frat or a sorority. You can create lifelong friendships and memories. The amount of social opportunities you get for being in a frat or sorority is incredible. They’re smarter than you think. To even stay in the organization, you have to maintain a strong GPA, because they do care about their academics. You also get opportunities for leadership, which that, alongside being in the Greek organization, makes your resume look amazing.

The College Parties

After experiencing a college party, you'll think the high school parties you've been to were lame. There’s obviously alcohol at the parties, but please know your limits, don’t go to a douche guy’s room, and do NOT drink and drive.

Studying Abroad

You finally have the option to study in another country! That’s one thing you should at least do for one semester, because you could study in your country. It’s so beneficial because of:

  • Traveling
  • Making memories
  • Meeting new people
  • Picking up a new language
  • Career opportunities

Road Trips

There will be moments where road trips are going to happen and maybe it’s an hour away kind of road trip or an out of state road trip. Either way, you’re having the time of your life traveling with your best friends, creating fun moments.

These four years are basically the years you find out who you truly are. You experience so many different things you didn’t and couldn’t experience in high school. It gives you a taste of how it feels not living with your parents for once. It seems nerve-wracking, but it gives you a taste of independence and you end up loving it. You meet so many people you wouldn’t meet in your hometown. You don’t have people making decisions for you. You can basically do what you want with some minor restrictions. Make sure you keep school a priority, because you’re there to earn your degree. Yes, it’s fun, but school always comes first before any of these, so make sure you get your shit done before having fun. Good luck in your next four yours
