One of the novels written by Claire Adam is "Golden Child". It was published in 2019. It is written in the context of rural Trinidad. The book won the Desmond Elliott Prize. The Golden Child novel has been included in the BBC's list of the 100 most influential novels of 2019.

A deeply influenced Trinidadian debut novel set, following a family life as they navigate impossible choices about the deficit, loyalty, and love.

The novel deals deeply with Trinidad. The story of a family who lives a life of lack, loyalty, love, Golden Child is a novel written with a stunning force and beauty.

The story of the book revolves around rural Trinidad, a brick house on steel surrounded by bushes. A family lives there in silence. They try to live a decent life there. Father Clive works at the petroleum plant and his wife looks after the house.

They have two sons, who are thirteen years old and wake up every morning to go to the capital Port of Spain for Shook. Although they are twins, they do not have the same characteristics. Peter is believed to be a talented and great man.

The New York Times reviewed the book, as a covert portrait of an underlying social system, where a family and their neighbors coexist with ubiquitous threats. It is an emotionally powerful novel. The complexity of the island came to the fore in the mid-80s.

In this stunning portrayal of the cultural diversity in the novel, and the family's sacrifice, growing hope, and ultimate despair, Adam develops a poetic lightness and beauty very artistically.

A startling and disturbing contemporary family grief, a unique artistic touch of happiness is formed in the book. A sensitive image of family life and a thriller, these two things combine the two things in the book.

The novel Golden Child was named one of the BBC's 100 Most Influential Novels in 2019.
