"Bartleby, Scrivener" is a novel written by American author Herman Melville. In November and December of 1853, Putnam's Magazine and some minor textual changes were published in two volumes, respectively. In the story, a lawyer who lives on Wall Street hires a new clerk.

The story was first published anonymously in two installments. Published by Dix in 1858, and Edwards was published in the United States and Britain in June.

The novel "Bartleby, The Scrivener" did not have much success at the time of its publication. But now it is the most significant of the American short stories.

In works such as "A Hunger Artist" and "The Trial", Franz Kafka explores several contexts and is considered a pioneer in the field of irrational literature.

There is nothing to indicate that the bohemian writer was quite familiar with Melville's work, which was largely forgotten until some time after Kafka's death.

The novel "Bartleby, Scrivener" was included in the list of the top 100 most influential novels published by BBC News in November 2019.

Oryx and Crake Summary

"Oryx and Crake" is a 2003 novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood. Instead of pure science fiction, the author describes the novel as adventurous romance and speculative fiction.

This novel doesn't deal with things we can't do yet. Yet the amount of realism associated with the novel is valuable enough.

The story of the book is based on a lone character named Snowman. He finds crackers in dark situations and chooses them as his companions. A boy named Jimmy can learn about the genetic testing and pharmaceutical engineering that took place under his counterpart Glenn "Crack".

The book was first published by McClelland and Stuart. The book was nominated for a Man Booker Prize in Fiction in 2003. The book was shortlisted for the 2004 Orange Prize.

The first of the MaddAddam trilogy is Oryx and Crake. Then in 2009, The Year of the Flood was published. The third installment MaddAddam was finally released in 2013.

The novel has received positive reviews from most critics. The novel ranks high among the works of The Globe and Mail, McLeans, and the Toronto Star Atwood.

Readers will recognize that we are only a few steps ahead of ourselves, the story highlights the context of such a society. Critic Moore commented that 'Orix and Crack' is a roller-coaster ride. The book shows how one can go from horrible horror to lonely mourning.

Mr. Joyce Carol Oates called the novel "more ambitious and darkly prophetic" than The Handmaid's Tale. He described the novel as "ambitiously anxious and very efficiently executed".

On 5 November 2019, the novel "Oryx and Crake" was listed as one of the 100 most influential novels published by BBC News.

How To Be Both By Ali Smith Book Summary

A famous novel written by Scottish author Ali Smith is "How to Be Both". It was published in 2014. It was published by Hamish Hamilton. The book won the Man Booker Prize in 2014 and was shortlisted in 2015 for the Folio Prize.

Also won the Goldsmith Award, Costa Book, and Novel Award in 2014. In 2015, the book won the Bailey Women's Prize for Fiction.
