Accredited undergraduate online colleges and universities make it easy for students to earn a reputable degree from the comforts of their own homes.

Credits earned at online postsecondary schools can generally be transferred to offline schools. Degrees are offered across a broad range of subjects. Many of the colleges and universities have been in existence for 50 years or longer.

Daniel Bowel - the Chief Editor of Writemyessay, has studied and prepared a list of online colleges for students.

University of Phoenix

Founded in 1976 by Dr. John Sperling, the University of Phoenix offers online and offline courses. High school graduates and adults who want to enroll in continuing education courses will find a broad range of study areas to enroll in at the university.

Undergraduate degrees and certificate programs are offered in disciplines such as:

  • Nursing and Healthcare
  • Social sciences
  • Business
  • Information Technology
  • Criminal Justice
  • Education

The University of Phoenix also has 200 offline campus locations throughout the United States. The postsecondary school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

Post graduation, students can sit for state licenses so that they can gain employment and start to work in their career field. Financial aid is offered in the form of grants and student loans.

Ashford University

Ashford University was founded in 1918. The university has an online and an offline presence. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, Ashford University offers undergraduate degrees in various subjects including:

  • Accounting
  • Applied Behavioral Science
  • Child Development
  • Business Administration
  • Finance
  • Liberal Arts

Students who enroll in remote courses access an online portal to connect with their professors, gain academic support and take academic tests. Post-graduation, students can enroll in online graduate courses at the school (i.e. Healthcare Administration, Education, Organizational Management). Ashford University offers financial aid in the forms of grants, student loans and scholarships.

South University

South University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. High school graduates and adults that want to enroll in continuing education courses can major in several subjects at the postsecondary school including:

  • Business Administration
  • Nursing
  • Pharmacy
  • Criminal Justice
  • Graphic Design
  • Medical Assisting

Founded in 1899, South University has been educating students for more than a century. Students can enroll at one of the university’s offline campuses to earn a graduated degree. Financial aid is offered to eligible students in the form of grants, work study programs and student loans.

Lincoln College

As with the other colleges and universities that offer online undergraduate degrees, Lincoln College allows students to take courses year round on a part-time or full-time basis. Founded in 1946, Lincoln College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

Associate and Bachelor degrees are offered online in several subjects including:

  • Information Management and Security
  • Criminal Justice
  • Business Management
  • Graphic Design
  • Advanced Medical Coding and Billing

Admissions representatives are available to speak with online or via the telephone. Eligible students can receive financial aid in the form of grants, veteran’s benefits and student loans.

Students can enroll at most online colleges and universities right from their own homes. Textbooks are mailed to the students’ homes and academic examinations are taken via a computer. Some of the postsecondary schools allow students to walk in person to receive their degree (similar to how on-campus students graduate).

Because the undergraduate schools are accredited it is typically easy to transfer credits earned at the schools to other colleges and universities. As more students earn their postsecondary education online, the respect that these academic institutions garner from employers can increase the percentage of students who earn new employment post-graduation.
