Blogging is known to be one of the most interactive professions. It helps people tell stories and engraves opinions in other people’s minds. We know that the power of storytelling is massive; it has the ability to change a person’s views and thoughts. Blogging about reality makes people wonder and that is how we bring change into society.

But how many times has it happened that you start your own blog, write what you feel like, and talk about your day like your own personal digital diary? You add pictures and quirky headlines and add fun things that you could come up with. But however, you don’t get as many views or visitors or likes for that matter.

This says that blogging does require planning. When you have a story to tell, merely saying words will not make it engaging.

Hence you need to add more than just the content to your blog. Actually there are a lot of things to consider when writing a blog. Thus I have for you a couple of pieces of advice along with 6 elements of a successful blog post which you can include in your article and might experience extra gains on your view count.

1) The Purpose behind the post

It is very simple when you read a story; you look for a purpose from that story. This is the key rule in this list of 6 elements of a successful blog post. If you are starting a new blog post, you must know what message you want to convey through it. A story of value is something that plays an important role when you want somebody reading it.

After reading a blog post your readers should always leave with something of value. It could be any piece of information (or) sharing your personal life (or) anything that helps your readers and the best way to deliver such a blog post is by having a purpose behind it.

A captivating blog post requires a niche, a story with a valuable lesson, and a purpose behind. Your blog readers need to know why you are telling your story only then they will engage with your content.

2) Having content that connects

The reason why every person is different is that we have different opinions and different life experiences. Which also gives us a divergent point of view. Perhaps someone has an amazing experience with rollercoasters while some may have thrown up during the same ride. Every person links something distinctive to one thing. That is why when you are blogging; you need to make sure that whatever your content is, it should connect to the people. Only then your blog will be relatable.

For people to connect to your story you have to find something unique to you. It can be a particular topic or your writing style. This does not come easy, you need to keep writing to find your niche which is unique to you. When you do find your niche, make sure you stick with it.

Let’s say your niche is travel and you start your blog with the mindset of a travel blogger. Hence the ambiance of the blog, the colors, and the content of your blog are based on travel. When someone opens your blog page they should get such an ambiance and should be expecting travel stories. Last if not the least your content should talk to travellers.

In this scenario, if you suddenly change to cooking, your target audience who are expecting stories about exotic locations would lose interest. Therefore be very careful in finding your niche. Look for something that you have an abundance of and can write as many stories as you want to and that’s

3) Catchy headlines (Not clickbaity)

Ask yourself, what are headlines? Headlines denote what your content says merged in a couple of words. Hence headlines are the most important part of any content. Picking a catchy headline that would make the reader want to read your content is a quality.

It’s your job to make headlines quirky and efficient so that people can understand exactly what you are talking about just by looking at your headline.

For instance, if the headline you choose is “pros and cons of a start-up”, let us say instead of that if you wrote “The Good, the bad, and the business”. Now this headline is not only catchy, it has the right placement of words that immediately grab attention.

Now that you know the words to put together to make one catchy headline, let us talk about what ties the headline to the content. That would be the theme of the content.

Merge your headline and your theme ambiance to create an excellent blog page. Engage your audience with an extensively pretty color palate and tell your story through your visual board.

4) Write subheadings that are no less than a captivating heading

Just how a headline ties the whole content together, subheadings do the same for parts and bits of the content.

According to the dictionary, a subheading is ‘a heading that is given to a subsection of a piece of writing’. This means subheadings are mini headings that define the purpose of the short paragraph in a couple of words. Just how a heading is what fires up the curiosity in the mind of the audience so that he or she is extremely eager to know what the content under the heading says, a subheading should also do the same.

For example, if a subhead just says ‘food to try in Bali’, people may or may not be as interested and might skim through the content under it. However, if you write something like ‘5 Bali foods for less than $5’, such subheadings induce curiosity in a person’s mind.

Your subheadings need to be as exciting as your heading. To make efficient subheadings adhere to the following tips:

Ask questions to yourself – the best way a blogger can know what his or her audience wants to read is to understand what he or she personally would want to read as a reader.

Question your subheadings- Ask questions in your subheads. Instead of using ‘best seafood in India’ try, ‘Why are these seafood dishes best in India?’. These kinds of questions are entertaining and they will make the audience question the same thing as your subheading.

Be direct- Do not try to captivate your audience with fake subheadings that may look something and whereas content speaks about something else entirely. This causes you to lose credibility with your audience.

5) Strong Vocabulary

Vocabulary is very important when you are communicating through writing. Unless you are texting, the use of proper vocabulary matters especially in the world of blogging. With a strong vocabulary, you can communicate anything without it sounding confusing or offensive. You can even personalize your content with the proper use of vocabulary.

The value of good grammar and vocabulary always pays off for good. While you are doing what you love by writing a blog, you are also selling yourself which is what business is all about.

While you are reading this article you will understand that there is a certain tone in the content. Every article or blog or book talks to you. With that being said, if you don’t have a good vocabulary, people will easily lose interest.

People, who will be reading your blog, will have their idea of correct grammar. While not everyone is perfect, proper vocabulary and grammar can go a long way. Usage of powerful words with proper placement helps you engage with the audience. As they find it more structured and it helps to gain more attention.

6) Inclusion of Statistics and other resources

Blogging has a lot of stories to tell. But what is the use of stories without a hint of truth in them? There are fictional blog posts and then there are non-fictional blog posts. Most people who are interested in blogging look for something that is related to the real world. In such cases you need to provide credibility to your posts in order to attract people.

Therefore by including statistics and numbers from credible sources will make your audience trust you more. Audiences are always looking for trustworthy sources to rely on. Including numbers and statistics which will give your post a sense of worthiness and your audience will come back for more.

It is very simple; you would not want someone to lie to you, especially in such places where the information provided is necessary. So make your posts dependable so that when there is a need for credible resources, your audience should have you in their minds.

Conclusion

To conclude, there will be a lot of times that your posts will receive criticism and hatred and maybe people will start to ‘unfollow’ because they got bored, but that’s where the challenge lies, you need to understand the value of people’s opinions because they are the reason why your blog exists.
