There are billions of people on the planet, what do you think differentiates them? Well, obviously you’d be thinking that names, country, religion differentiate us from others, and you are absolutely right about it. Different names have different origins and cultural values. Parents often associate their children’s names with religion and traditional norms and beliefs. Different names have different meanings and pronunciations in different countries, and other people won’t even know how to pronounce the name. For example, only Irish people know how to pronounce Aoife, and it will be really hard for you to pronounce the word if you have not heard it before.

The second most important thing that differentiates you and your children from others is how you believe in different situations and scenarios. Your children should know how to behave in a formal gathering and how to stay in school and classrooms. And parents are usually very worried about the behavior of their children, especially when they are going to join the school because some children have problems in adapting to new atmospheres’. Here are some things that you should teach your kids when they are going to enter their academic life:

1. Listen to and Follow Simple Instructions:

A child must be able to listen to some simple instructions before you send him off to school. Give some general instructions to your children, like clean your room, put your toys in the toy box, put your colored pencils in their box, etc. a child who is not able to interpret these simple instructions should not be made to attend school. Wait a little more, before sending him to school.

2. Communicate their Needs:

Some children are very shy and hesitant and won’t share their problems with anyone except their parents. Make your child a little social so that he can easily communicate his issues with the teacher, or else nobody will know if he’s being bullied in the class. Teach your child to talk in complete sentences and state his problems. Encourage them to tell how they feel to the teachers. Teach them how to ask for water, pencils, sharpeners’ and any other thing they might need in the class.

3. Dress and Feed Themselves:

Before sending your children to school, make sure they know how to unwrap food containers, juices, and drinks, also make sure they know how to unzip or unbutton because these two are some of the most important things that a child must know. Teach your children how to tie shoes; at least they will not have to wait until someone comes to their rescue.

How can you teach your children these things? Make them learn when you put clothes on them, and then let them practice it until they can do it easily and independently. Make them do small things like wearing socks, putting on gloves, unbuttoning pants, putting on jackets, etc., and don’t forget to praise them for accomplishing these tasks. It will not only boost their confidence, but they will also try to learn new things.

4. Share Toys with others and Taker Turns:

Teaching your children to get along with others is significant as teaching them how to feed and dress themselves. School life is all about getting along with others, sharing things, and making friends. You cannot say that your child will be all alone and there is no need to learn such things. Sharing is a very healthy habit, and as a parent, you must emphasize teaching your children that ‘sharing is caring’. The same is the case with taking turns, your child will not be the first to take the turn in everything, so teach him how does taking the turn works.

Play games with your children, and teach them how to take turns. Make the siblings share toys with each other. Make your children do things together to build a strong sense of team and teamwork in them.

5. Identify Basic Shapes, Patterns, and Colors:

Identification of shapes, patterns, and colors is one of the fundamental steps of learning. Teaching these simple mathematical expertise to your children before sending them off to school will help them learn new things easily.

Teaching your children the basic difference between shapes and colors is the easiest thing. Cut out small cards in identical and unlike shapes, and make them point out the difference. The same goes for different colors and patterns.

Parents are very nervous when they are going to send their ward to classrooms. And children too are very nervous on their first day in school, especially when you have not trained them well. Dress them properly and teach them eating habits, sharing habits, so they don’t get into any kind of complex in the early days of their academic life. Some of the basic things mentioned above will help you to train your children efficiently, will obviously give them a blast on their first day in school!
