College life centers on academic excellence but many dynamics determine a student’s academic growth and performance. The accommodation comes first among the dynamic forces that can make or break a student’s academic life. If the accommodation is uncomfortable or costly, the student won’t enjoy the coziness and serenity they need to excel academic-wise. Housing options for college kids may be limited but below are five options available for comparison.

Home Living

Students who enroll in community colleges close to their homes don’t necessarily need to pay for costly accommodation. With a proper agreement between the parents and the student, the college student can decide to live at home. Home living as a college student’s accommodation option can save you a lot in utilities, rent, room and board, and other housing costs common with college housing. Your parents may ask for favors in return but it won’t be a big deal as most of them are everyday tasks.

Unless your home is a few minutes away from the college, you might need to invest in a practical way to help you commute from and to school. It could be a car, bike, or bicycle, simply get what works for you. If you’re the kind that would rather commute via public means, you can public means to school, as well.

Off-Campus Housing Apartments

Off-campus housing apartments are highly preferred among students who have spent some time in the learning facilities. They are popular housing options for learners completing their second and third academic years. These apartments have smaller rooms but offer a private and breathing space where you can balance your social life, campus life, and academic life. Unless the apartments are far away from the school, the student doesn’t have to worry about being pressurized to wake up early and walk long distances.

Off-campus housing apartments such as the waterloo student housing make your campus and social life better. Most of these apartments are located close to leading universities such as Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo. They are available in many suit styles and bedroom selections to suit the accommodation needs of different learners.

College Dorms

On-campus residential accommodations are often shared rooms where a few students have to share one room. Dorms are usually a few meters from the classes and come with many amenities and facilities, including gyms. They come as a board and room package, though the spaces are smaller, meaning you’ll pay less on accommodation.

In college dorms, every student gets a closet space, bed, and desk, but the rooms are usually crowded, meaning you may not enjoy the privacy you desire. However, some campuses provide high-end apartment-style buildings with spacious kitchens, living spaces, and bathrooms. The benefit of on-campus apartments is that you get the financial and cordial support of your dorm mate whenever the need arises.

Greek Life Housing

Colleges and universities that have sororities and fraternities often provide Greek life housing. The Greek housing units provide an opportunity for chapter members to connect and social network seamlessly. Students who opt for Greek life housing often live a few meters from the classes and don’t have to worry about their privacy or cramped dorm spaces.

In many instances sorority or flats have approximately twenty to thirty residents, living together. Therefore, these college housing options provide an opportunity for learners with different backgrounds to come together interact and build a life together. When living in the college housing units, students also get to engage in many social activities and parties. The costs of these college housing units may be higher but not unaffordable.

University Housing

University housing is better and more advanced alternatives to dorms. They come in form of multi-bedroom apartments characterized by a specious atmosphere free from cramped spaces. Most of these college housing facilities are owned by the university in question, so they usually come with tight rules and conditions, which every student must abide by.

Fortunately, when living in university housing settings, you won’t need to worry about cable bills or utility bills because the universities offer them free of charge. As with university housing, you get to enjoy special events and get-togethers. In addition, they provide relaxation spaces for learners after a busy day at school.

College learners have options to compare when talking it comes to housing options. They can go for dorms or home housing if they are low on budget or go for off-campus housing or Greek life campus units if they want something spacious and accommodating. Whatever accommodation you select, make sure to hunt for rent prices and compare.
