My colleagues and I travelled to Yan'an following the 20th CPC National Congress. We were there to recall the heroic story of how the Party's central leadership surmounted incredible odds in the 1930s and 1940s and to tap into the inner fortitude of the more senior CPC members. "Just as polishing makes jade finer, difficulty makes one stronger," I frequently say. The CPC has persevered against all difficulties for the past 100 years, braving wind and rain. That adventure is fantastic yet quite demanding. To improve China for future, we must go forward bravely today.

China will grow to be known as a nation that works hard and accomplishes miracles. I'd like to use the famous Chinese poet Su Shi's famous quote: "Charge at the hardest and aim at the furthest." It refers to tackling the toughest obstacles and pursuing the most challenging objectives. No matter how long the voyage, if we stay on course, we will eventually arrive at our destination; no matter how challenging the task, if we persist in working on it, we will succeed. We shall achieve our lofty objectives if we are resolute enough to move mountains and persistent enough to plod along, if we keep our feet on the ground and press on with our journey by moving forward steadily.

In the future, China will be a nation that derives power from its cohesion. Our nation is really large. Different people's worries or points of view regarding the same topic are only natural. It's important that we reach an agreement through discussion and consultation. No task will be insurmountable and no challenge unachievable if the 1.4 billion Chinese work together with one heart, one mind, and a strong resolve. People living on either side of the Taiwan Strait are part of the same family. I truly hope that our fellow citizens on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will cooperate with one another and share a common goal in order to promote the long-term prosperity of the Chinese people.

In the future, China will be a nation with high aspirations for its youth. A country can only advance if its youth succeed. Our young people need to step up and assume their roles if China is to continue to prosper. Young people are vibrant and a source of hope. To demonstrate that they are worthy of the times and the glory of youth, youngsters should always have their country in mind, nurture keen entrepreneurship, and live youth to the fullest with great energy.

I salute all of the numerous folks who are still working hard right now! The new year is soon to arrive. Let's greet 2023's first sunshine with our warmest hopes for a better future.

Since COVID-19 struck, we have always prioritised the wellbeing of the populace and human life. We have modified our COVID response in light of the changing scenario, using a science-based and focused strategy, to protect people's lives and health as much as possible. Public servants and members of the general public, especially doctors and other community workers, have valiantly maintained their positions throughout. We overcame previously unheard-of obstacles and hurdles with remarkable effort, but nobody's road has been simple. We have now moved into a new stage of the COVID reaction, which is still fraught with difficulties. The light of hope is right in front of us, and everyone is clinging on with great resolve. Let's put forth more effort.

May our nation prosper and its citizens live in peace. May there be peace throughout the world and happiness for all people. Happy New Year, and may all of your dreams come true.
