Because in college, you should already know.

1. Be on time.

This is one of the best habits you can form.

It makes a massive impression on your teachers and at the workplace.

This way, you won’t miss anything important and you’ll gain reliability.

2. Be prepared to work your ass off.

If you want to go anywhere in life (especially college), the best time is to prepare in high school.

High school is the base of the rest of your life! Do your best, even if college isn’t in the picture. The chances that come in high school may never come again.

The best opportunities come in high school, and your parents are still there to pay for the big things!

Be good to your parents and love them!

3. Communication

Communicate with your teachers. Let them know what days you’ll be absent, if you want extra credit, and any extra help understanding criteria.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions; that is what they’re there for.

Talk to your counselors to help guide you through and after high school.

Scholarships, grants, joining clubs, volunteer, or community service.

4. Stay on task.

Being distracted and having fun are two different things.

That girl in your math class will probably be on your mind—even if you don’t want her to be! That’s okay.

Just remember to do your homework and pay attention during class.

You ever seen or read Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief? DO NOT EAT THE LOTUS COOKIE!

5. Maintain a schedule.

You should plan out your day, week, or month! If you have no idea what you’re doing today or "going with the flow," then your productivity decreases.

At least make time to finish any homework or other priorities! Afterward, you can take a nap or watch a movie.

Once you have a routine going, you’ll find yourself more self-efficient.

6. Get involved.

Not just in sports, but a few things stated before: like community service or joining clubs.

These things will look really good on college and job apps! Or, do it just for good practice.

Don’t forget to have fun in the midst of tests and assignments.

Do something that makes you happy and put it to good use.

7. If you go to school, go to class.

You know damn well there is nowhere else to go but the bathroom.

Strict teachers, annoying classmates, too much class, and homework may be reasons why you don’t want to go to class.

Six words. Fake it ‘til you make it.

A better attitude and actually socializing with other pupils makes all the difference in the world.

8. Organization

However you would like to organize, do it!

Planners, binders, post-it notes, dividers, folders—the whole lot!

Doing this will help everything else fall into place.

9. Get a good night’s rest.

You’ve heard this a million times. For a reason!

You can go a night with little sleep, but several nights like that will negatively affect your performance in everything you do.

Don’t do drugs to keep you awake, just go to sleep early and don’t complain the next day.

This goes along with maintaining a schedule. Make time for sleep!

It’s stunningly shocking how many people have lack of rest and think it’s the slightest bit okay. You’ll thank yourself later.

10. Reward yourself.

Finally, my favorite part!

Go out for ice cream, hang out with your friends and family, go for a run, take a bubble bath, or clean up a little bit.

Do whatever you gotta do to stay sane.

You’ve worked this hard, you need time for yourself!

Work hard to the point where "rewarding yourself" is just part of your everyday routine.
