Why Switch to Plant-Based Toilet Cleaners: A Better Choice
Discover the benefits of eco-friendly toilet cleaners for a healthier home and planet.

Admit it; no one looks forward to cleaning the toilet area let alone touching the items that compose it. But this is something that everybody has to come across. Now, here’s the thing: have you ever stopped to think about what’s in that blue liquid you’re squirting into your toilet bowl? If you’re like I was, then it was probably not all that great for you either. However, once I began researching what most traditional toilet cleaners are made of, I knew I had to switch. That is how I learned the various possibilities of using plant-based toilet cleaners – and once you learn the truth, you cannot unlearn it!
The Chemical Overload in Conventional Cleaners
All traditional toilet cleaners use hazardous reagents such as chlorine bleach, ammonia, and synthetic perfume. These chemicals are not only effective on stains; they can be very dangerous to your health and the environment. Each time you use your WC these chemicals may flow through the pipelines and land into our water bodies causing cumulative impacts on aquatic life. But worst of all is the dreadful fumes that any cleaning exercise releases in the house. I have always suffered from dizziness, especially when washing the toilet—I bet this has happened to you before.
Why Go Plant-Based?
It is all new when you change from your usual synthetic liquid toilet bowl cleaner to this natural plant-based product. These products use agents like oils, citric acid, and bio-degradable substances like that of the surfactant class. Not only are they efficient when it comes to cleaning greasy deposits or stubborn stains but they do not have the health-hazardous nature that comes with most commercial cleaning products.
One of my favorite perks? The fresh, natural scents. Many plant-based cleaners contain diluted eucalyptus oil, lavender, or lemon oil, which give your bathroom a fresh scent that is so natural and so much better than washing your face and brushing your teeth with the smell of chemicals.
Making the World a Better Place Starts at Home
Aside from the health benefits, using plant-based cleaners is a tiny contribution in a world desperate for more environmentally friendly actions. Most manufacturers use environmentally friendly material or non-sustainable polythene material while packaging their products. Besides, these cleaners must degrade safely within the environment which such cleaners are set to do. And therefore each flush contributes to the decrease of harm done to the world we live in.
But Do They Work?
To be honest, I was a complete skeptic about such a platform at first. Could something so mild deal with the grime? However, when I decided to use a plant-based cleaner, I could not believe it. It helped clean my toilet better than before leaving it smelling of chemicals nice. Honestly, it made cleaning feel a bit more enjoyable or more fun at least.
Making the Switch
If you are willing to adopt eco-friendly products, the first step that you ought to take is to read labels and look for a product that does not harm the surface of the earth, is not toxic, and is manufactured from natural plant products. Some even state this product was tested and certified as ‘Eco-friendly’ or ‘Tested on animals.’
The best part? Each time that you wash your toilet you will be making a better choice of what is healthy for your home, your loved ones, and the earth. And honestly, is not that worth it?
