Why Climbing the Phi Phi Viewpoint is a Must-Do Experience
Exploring the Phi Phi Viewpoint Experience
The Phi Phi viewpoint is a majestically beautiful place with a breathtaking view over the entire Phi Phi Island. At the viewpoint, you will be able to take many pictures to capture the view of the two gorgeous bays. To reach the 3 different viewpoints of the Koh Phi Phi it will involve a lot of steep stair climbing and sloped path traversing. Let us take a look at why this is a must-do activity on your visit to Phi Phi Island.
Why You Should Visit the Phi Phi Viewpoint
The Phi Phi viewpoint is the best way to appreciate the surrounding beauty of the island. It has a direct view of the low-lying area of the island between the two hills that surround it and the beautiful clear waters on either side which make for a very picturesque background for taking some of the most enchanting photographs. It is also relatively inexpensive to do and the trek to the viewpoints is a fun and relatively easy hike for most people. There are 3 different viewpoints to check out as you make your journey upward along the way.
How to get to the Phi Phi Viewpoint
Phi Phi is a relatively small island and so accessing most places on the island is not very difficult. There are a few methods to reach the summit. After settling into a nearby place to stay, such as SAii Phi Phi Island Village, you can hike up the stairs which may seem like a daunting task, take a motorbike taxi to the very top or just walk along the road. Hiking to the viewpoint by the stairs can initially seem like a scary task, but always remember there is no rush to do so. You should take your time and bring plenty of water. A motorbike taxi ride is one of the most exciting things to do in Phi Phi Island, but it can be a little pricey and it will take you along the windy small roads through the jungle. Walking along the road is the longest way to get to the top, but it is also far less strenuous than taking the staircase.
When is the Best Time to Visit the Phi Phi Viewpoint
The best time to visit the viewpoint is between 10 am and 2 pm with the sun being behind you resulting in a beautiful view of the sea around you that won’t obstruct your view. The earlier you go the better as it will also be less crowded. If you want to catch the sunset, then the best spot to catch it would be from the highest viewpoint.
The First Viewpoint
This viewpoint will the be first of the three that you come across when you use the staircase. It takes about 20 minutes to reach it and is also known as the “I Love Phi Phi Viewpoint”. It is the most popular viewpoint as it is the easiest to traverse. It is also the place where you will have to pay the entrance fee. Make sure you keep your ticket with you for access to the other viewpoints as well.
The Second Viewpoint
To reach the second viewpoint it will take you at least another 20 minutes of a hike. The trail is well demarcated and easy to follow so you won’t get lost along the way. This viewpoint is usually less crowded and less touristy. It has the appearance of a natural viewpoint with the surrounding Thai jungle around you. There is a nice small café close by that you can relax at before you head off for the next viewpoint.
The Third Viewpoint
The last viewpoint is usually the least crowded as most people stop at the second viewpoint. The viewpoint from here is quite beautiful as it is the highest point of the three. The hike is relatively more difficult than the climb to the second point, but it is roughly the same difficulty as hiking to the first point.
