    CARBON FOOT PRINT :

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions. The average carbon footprint for a person in the United States is 16 tons, one of the highest rates in the world. Globally, the average carbon footprint is closer to 4 tons.

THE WAY ARE LISTED BELOW :

    1. 3R 'S

Reduce, reuse, and recycle - Reduce the amount of waste you generate by reusing and recycling items instead of throwing them away.

2.Energy-efficient light bulbs

Use energy-efficient light bulbs - Switch to energy-efficient light bulbs like LED bulbs, which use less electricity and last longer.

LEDs emit very little heat. In comparison, incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat and CFLs release about 80% of their energy as heat. Lifetime: LED lighting products typically last much longer than other lighting types.

3.PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

Use public transportation, walk, or bike - Reduce your carbon footprint by using public transportation, walking, or biking instead of driving alone.

The purpose of introducing or expanding public transportation is to increase access to and use of public transit while, at the same time, reducing motor vehicle miles driven and traffic congestion.[1]

Public transportation systems are often implemented at the local or regional level and can be supported by federal initiatives, such as the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. [1, 2] Los Angeles County is one example of a region that expanded its public transportation system using local, state, and federal funding.[3, 4]

4.PLANT BASED DIET

Eat a plant-based diet - Eating a plant-based diet can significantly reduce your carbon footprint because animal agriculture is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.

5.LOCALLY SOURCED FOOD :

Buy locally sourced food - Buying food that is locally sourced can reduce your carbon footprint because it reduces the amount of energy needed to transport food long distances.

they are products served and consumed within a 100 to 150 mile radius of where they're grown.

Local foods commonly include fruit and vegetables grown on smaller farms or even in someone's back garden or a community plot. Local food can also include dairy, eggs, or even meat. Similarly, in many locations, we can source products, including preserves and honey, from local farms and producers.Eating locally ensures that your food has not traveled thousands of miles using fossil fuels that produce large amounts of greenhouse gasses. It also ensures that your food hasn't been refrigerated for hours or even days, which also produces mass amounts of greenhouse gasses.

6.THERMOSTAT :

Use a programmable thermostat - A programmable thermostat can help you save energy and reduce your carbon footprint by automatically adjusting the temperature of your home.

A programmable thermostat is a thermostat with the ability to adjust home heating and cooling equipment according to a pre-set schedule. For instance, a programmable thermostat could be set to maintain a home temperature of 72 degrees throughout the day, and 65 degrees from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. every night.

7.REDUCE WATER WASTAGE

Use water efficiently - Reduce your water usage by fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and using water-efficient appliances.

8.RENEWABLE ENERGY:

Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us.

Support renewable energy - Support the use of renewable energy like solar and wind power by choosing energy providers that offer renewable energy options.

Types:

  1. wind power
  2. solar power
  3. bioenergy (organic matter burned as a fuel)
  4. hydroelectric
  5. tidal energy.

9.REUSE

Use reusable bags, water bottles, and containers - Reduce the amount of waste you generate by using reusable bags, water bottles, and containers instead of disposable ones.

10.AWARENESS

Educate others - Spread awareness about the importance of reducing our carbon footprint and encourage others to take action to reduce their own.
