Under Purple Clouds

Every night at midnight purple clouds emerged to dance with the flushed sky. It was a sight that never ceased to amaze Ana, who had lived her entire life in this small town. She often stayed up late into the night, waiting for the clouds to gather and surround the stars, whose purple hues lit up the sky like a painting.

But that night Ana noticed something else. The clouds seemed to be moving chaotically & the colors were brighter than usual. They seemed to want to tell him something. She walked out of the house and felt the cool night breeze on her face. The wind carried a sweet, light scent that reminded him of his grandmother's garden. Ana followed the smell and wondered where it came from.

As she walked down the dirt road, the trees rustled around her, their leaves whispering secrets in the wind. The moon was full, casting an ethereal light on everything around it. Ana felt like in a dream, in a world where anything is possible.

And then she saw it. Opposite her stood a small house between two trees. It was a humble house, built of wood and stone, but there was something about it that set it apart. It was like he was calling her, inviting her. Ana approached the house and felt a familiar feeling wash over her. He pushed open the creaking door & the sweet scent intensified.

Inside, the house was filled with a warm golden light. The walls were adorned with colorful tapestries & the air was filled with the sounds of soft music. Ana looked around admiringly. He had never seen anything like it before.

As he went further into the house, he met a woman sitting by the fireplace. The woman had long silver hair and her eyes were a deep blue. She was knitting a sweater, her hands moving in a quick, practiced motion.

The woman looked up and smiled at Ana. "Hello, my child. I have been waiting for you."

Ana was surprised. "How did you know I was coming?"

The woman giggled. “I know many things. Please come and sit with me."

Ana sat down in the padded chair and felt the calm wash over her. The woman continued to knit, the soft click of her needles filling the room.

"You're probably wondering why you're here," the woman said without looking up from her work.

Ana nodded."YES."

The woman put down her knitting and looked at Ana. "You have been chosen, my son. Chosen to continue the legacy passed down from generation to generation. Legacy of Magic."

Ana looked at the woman in disbelief. "Magic? What do you mean?"

The woman smiles. "You've always felt a connection to purple clouds, haven't you? Because I am a manifestation of the magic within you."

Ana was speechless. He's always had a special connection to the clouds, but never thought it could mean anything more than just a sensation.

The woman continued. “Darkness lurks in our world, my child. Darkness threatens to engulf everything in its path. But there is hope. The magic within you can help to overcome this darkness and bring light into our world."

Ana looked at the woman and felt a sense of responsibility wash over her. "But how? How can I help with my magic?"

The woman got up and Ana followed her. "I'll teach you, child. I'll teach you everything I know about magic.

There are so many great examples of magical realism that have been questioned before and I never cease to be amazed by all of you great writers who can go beyond the typical style and destroy it.
