Although the Kirin chip is absent, it has several self-developed technologies such as Kunlun Glass, Beidou Satellite Communication, XMAGE, and Hongxing System 3.0. Instead of giving in, Huawei has started to show its muscles to the US frequently. The US blockade is getting ridiculous!

Huawei can't adopt Kirin chips because the US has cut off TSMC's foundry for Kirin chips, and there are no high-end EUV lithography in China because ASML's EUV lithography has been banned from exporting to China by the U.S. In 2018, SMIC ordered a EUV lithography machine, but until now, ASML can't ship it, which shows how strict the U.S. controls ASML!

Why should ASML listen to the US?

Although ASML is based in the Netherlands, it is essentially a global company that has been successfully infiltrated by the U.S. In 2012, ASML had a certain say in the field of lithography, and to obtain priority supply, Samsung, TSMC, and Intel jointly bought a 23% stake in ASML, forming a community of interest.

The company's first three shareholders, ASML, were also involved, but the cost was that the proportion of US parts had to be 55% or more! In addition, the top three shareholders of ASML are all US companies, with a combined share of up to 30%. So ASML is ostensibly a global company, importing 90% of its parts from all over the world, but in essence, the US has an absolute say!

ASML completely flip-flopped and cut off DUV.

According to 2021 data, ASML's biggest customer is China, but EUV is not exported to China due to US requirements. But seeing China's frequent breakthroughs in the chip sector, the US got completely anxious and started asking ASML to ban the export of DUV lithography to China! The ever-compliant ASML completely flip-flopped and told the US "this is impossible"! Because China is a part of the entire chip industry, without China, everyone is finished!

I have to say, this is the first time I've seen ASML reply in a tough manner. Obviously, pletely anxious. On the one hand, ASML obviously doesn't want to lose China, its biggest market, as it naturally needs a lot of DUV lithography to achieve its goal of 70% chip self-sufficiency by 2025. On the other hand, ASML's competitors are eyeing the market, with Japanese NIL technology starting to penetrate China, breakthroughs in domestic lithography, breakthroughs in quantum chips, and so on. There are more and more solutions that can replace ASML DUV lithography. At this time, if ASML still heeds the advice of the United States, I am afraid that competitors have to be trained in this way!

After a full-scale confrontation with the United States, ASML completely stopped mounting and started to enter the Chinese market frantically, trying to occupy the Chinese market in advance, thus suppressing the development of domestic lithography machines. Since entering China, ASML has exported a total of 1,000 sets of lithography machines. Since last year, it has sold 78 sets of lithography machines to us. ASML is gradually increasing the export of DUV lithography to China. In addition, ASML's workforce in mainland China has soared from 500 to 1,500. This year, the company plans to recruit another 200 employees and open 15 offices in China. ASML's presence in China is deepening!

For ASML, China is a market that cannot be lost. Once a large number of domestic lithography machines are adopted, ASML's position will be in ruins! ASML also knows very well that you can't get anything after the US, your survival and market are the priority!
