The biggest confusion for cat owners: why do cats have to wake people up in the early hours of the morning?

Humans who have worked hard all day want to have a good sleep, but naughty kittens have to wake people up. On the issue of sleep, human-cat conflict is imminent, what should we do? Susan Hazel, a professor of animal and veterinary medicine at the University of Adelaide in Australia, and Julia Henning, a doctoral student, give some advice.

When you have to attend an important meeting in the morning, you are in a sweet dream at 4: 00 in the morning, but you are suddenly woken up by a cat jumping up and down. Why is the cat owner "crazy" in the middle of the night? How can shoveling officials keep their sleep?

You know, although cats have evolved the ability to be nocturnal, they have adapted to the human way of life through domestication. Domestic cats are usually most active in the early morning and dusk, rather than in the middle of the night. In order to live in harmony with their human roommates, they change their activity cycle. This means that if you sleep at night, your cat should rest, too. Many people do sleep with their cats. In a survey of American women, about 30% of participants had slept with at least one cat.

But why do some cat owners want to parkour in the early hours of the morning? Understanding the cause is the first step in solving the problem. Here are three possible reasons:

Hungry

Cats and cats also regard food as their top priority, and they wake up shoveling officials in the middle of the night, probably because they are hungry. Sadly, when yawning humans get up, the first thing they do is to feed the cat. This is a reward for cats-as long as they wake up humans, they have something to eat. As a result, cats are more likely to repeat this behavior.

To solve this problem, you must first make sure that the cat is full before going to bed. You can choose to feed it a meal or give it a snack before going to bed. If you are used to feeding your cat in the morning, you need to make sure that the cat owner does not associate your wake-up time with his mealtime, preferably leaving at least half an hour between getting up and feeding the cat. You can also train the cat to associate eating with other things, such as shouting "breakfast" before feeding.

Lack of rules of life

Cats like a predictable life, and maintaining a regular schedule can reduce the stress level of cats. This includes eating, playing, grooming and emptying the cat litter regularly (cat owners may also wake you up because the litter bowl is too dirty). Try not to move cat bowls, cat scratches and litter basins.

A common situation is that when the cat's living environment changes, such as furniture moving, shoveling officials going on holiday, or guests or new pets at home, the cat may wake its owner in the morning. But as long as you keep your life as regular as possible, cat owners will eventually adapt to the new normal.

Excess energy

It is well known that cats are sleepy, but they also need to play and exercise. What shoveling shit can do is to provide plenty of toys and space for cat owners, especially when you are not at home. Cat grab boards and cat climbing racks allow cats to climb and stretch, while balls and soft electric toys allow cats to play and exercise.

When you are at home, you can use the cat stick to interact with the cat, or play a chase game in the house. You can even try to invent a Mini Game. Because cats are easy to get bored, it's best to keep the game fresh.

But don't get the cat too excited an hour before you go to bed. It's best to play with your cats for a while before you go out and after you go home, which helps keep them quiet at night.

But what if I do everything, but the cat owner has his own way?

Then you may have to put up with the "cat wake-up service" for a while, and the situation may even get worse in the short term, because cats need time to adapt. All you have to do is use static braking, ignore the cat's behavior late at night and early in the morning, try not to interact with it as much as possible, and don't get up.

If you've tried everything and the cat owner still insists on waking you up, it's time to see a veterinarian. The abnormal behavior of cats may be caused by health problems.

May the shovel officials and their cat owners reach an agreement on the time to sleep. Cats and sleep can have both.
