THE BIGEST CREATURES TO HAVE EVER LIVED
Biggest creatures
Today I'm going to tell you about several animals that had unusual characteristics that allowed them to reach enormous sizes.
They were among the most magnificent creatures that have ever lived on Earth.
According to scientists, the Argentinosaurus, a genus of sauropod dinosaurs that lived roughly 94–97 million years ago in what is now South America, was one of the biggest land animals to have ever existed, growing up to 100 feet long and weighing up to 100 tonnes.
The first remains of the Argentinosaurus were found in Argentina in 1987 by a farmer who came across a massive leg bone while caring to his cattle.
More bones were discovered during additional excavations, revealing a huge dinosaur that dwarfed most other animals of its era.Theropod dinosaurs, or theropods, lived in what is now North Africa approximately 112 97 million years ago. Their name means "spine lizard."
With a length of up to 60 feet and a weight of up to 23 tonnes, it is thought to be one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs to have ever existed. The spinosaurus was distinguished by its long, sail-like structure on its back, which was probably used to regulate its body temperature. It also had long, crocodile-like jaws that were lined with sharp teeth, which enabled it to catch and consume large prey like fish, crocodiles, and other dinosaurs.
In 1912, the first spinosaurus fossils were found in Egypt.sperm whale
The largest toothed whale species is the theatre macrocephalus.
oceanic species that can dive to depths of up to 7,000 feet in quest of food and has the greatest brain of any animal species. It is a top predator on Earth.
Sperm whales are easily identified by their enormous block-shaped heads, which can account for up to one-third of their whole body length. They also have dark brown or greyish blue skin and noticeably wrinkled features.
Approximately 60–58 million years ago, a genus of enormous snakes called Titanoboa, which is now extinct, existed It is thought to be the longest snake ever recorded; it could reach a length of 42 feet and weighed about 2,500 pounds.
at 2004, the first Titanoboa fossils were found at a coal mine in Colombia. This discovery was significant since it shed light on the temperature and habitat of the paleocene era as well as the size and behaviour of snakes at the time The blue whale, Balanoptera musculus, is the largest animal on Earth. These marine mammals can reach lengths of 100 feet and weigh up to 200 tonnes. They are found in oceans all over the world and have a lifespan of up to 90 years.
Blue whales have a long, streamlined body that is often blue grey in colour with mottled patterns. They also have two pectoral fins that are roughly one-third the length of their bodies, a small dorsal fin, and they feed on tiny marine organisms The lead sick is an extinct genus of large bony fish that lived during the Jurassic period about 165–155 million years ago. It is believed to have been one of the largest fish that has ever lived and some estimates suggest that it could grow up to 50. 55 feet in length. The first fossils of lead sickness were discovered in England. An adult blue whale can consume up to eight thousand pounds of krill in a day. Africa and South America The lead sickness, despite its immense size, was a filter feeder such to current whale sharks and presumably consumed plankton and other microscopic animals. It did this by simply swimming with its big mouth open and filtering water through its gills.
An extinct species of flamingo-like birds known as the pterodastro was relatively small, with a wingspan of about two to three feet. They were characterised by their distinctive long, narrow beaks, which were fitted with comb-like structures used for filter feeding Pterodastro was an aquatic animal that lived in shallow bodies of water like lakes and lagoons. Its primary food source was small crustaceans, which it filtered from the water using comb-like features on the inside of its beak as it moved through the water.
There are two species of African elephants, the Savannah elephant (loxadanta Africana) and the Forest elephant (loxodonticyclotis), both of which can be found in different regions of sub-Saharan Africa. The African elephant is the largest land animal on Earth and one of the most recognisable ones. African elephants can reach heights of 13 feet and weights of seven tonnes fourteen thousand pounds per thousand
