COP 28 RESULTS: ACCOMPLISHMENTS, FAILURES AND CONTROVERSIES
A couple of weeks ago, I posted some thoughts on the 28th Conference of the Parties on to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28). It’s the annual conference to review progress and plan next steps on the climate crisis.

WHAT IF THE WORLD LOST OXYGEN FOR 5 SECONDS?
Imagine if all the Earth's oxygendisappeared not forever just for sayfive seconds would we just hold ourbreath what would happen to theatmosphere what would happen to theenvironment this is what if and here'swhat would happen if the world lostoxygen for just five seconds take a nicedeep breath feel how satisfying that iswhat you're breathing in is oxygen andit takes up roughly 21% of ouratmosphere with 78% being nitrogenalthough it's not the most abundant gasin our atmosphere it is the mostimportant without oxygen plants animalswater and us humans wouldn't be where weare todayfive seconds may not sound like a wholelot of time to be without oxygen most ofus can go at least thirty secondswithout taking a breath so it wouldhappen too fast for your body to evennotice your breathing would actuallyremain normal but as for everything elsenot so much in just five seconds theearth would look completely differentwithout oxygen you can say goodbye tothe Hoover Dam the Pantheon dome andanything else made of concretethese structures would instantlycollapse oxygen acts as a specialbinding agent to concrete without itconcrete is just dust speaking ofbuildings any untreated metal wouldinstantly be fused together this isbecause there's a layer of oxidation onmetals that prevents them from weldingtogether without that layer metals wouldinstantly bind to each other if youhappen to be relaxing at the beach atthe time expect a severe sunburn theozone layer our protection against thesun's UV rays is made of oxygen takeaway the oxygen and the earth wouldbecome extremely dangerous there wouldbe nothing protecting us from the sun'sUV rays in addition to a sunburn ourinner ear would explode losing oxygenmeans losing 21% of our air pressure achange in air pressure that drastic isequivalent to being at sea level anddropping down 2,000 meters instantly ourears wouldn't have enough time to adapthaving a good time yet well don't expectit to last long without oxygenthere's no fire the combustion processand vehicles wouldn't be able to occurany mode of transport that isn'telectric will automatically fail planeswill fall from the sky and millions ofcars will be stopped in their tracks thesky would be completely dark before ithits the earth light from the Sunbounces off multiple particles in theair without oxygen in the atmospherethere are less things to bounce off andthe sky will appear dark oh yeah andwhile all this is happening the Earth'scrust would completely crumble that'sbecause Earth's crust is made up of 45%oxygen the crust would crumble andcontinue to crumble until there'snothing left sending you and everyone onthe planet into a freefall sound likefun probably not but luckily you cantake a deep breath of 21% oxygen knowingthis will never happen for more thingsthat are fun to speculate on keepchecking back with what if. Without oxygen, Earth's structures would collapse rapidly, including the Hoover Dam, the Pantheon dome, and anything made of concrete. Other modes of transportation would also fail. The sky would become dark before crashing down onto the planet. In just 5 seconds, the Earth would look completely different. Without oxygen, you can say goodbye to the Hoover Dam , the Pantheon Dome , and anything else made out of concrete . These structures would instantly collapse! Oxygen acts as a special binding agent to concrete.Planes flying high in the sky would fall on earth and millions of cars running on petrol and diesel would stop on the roads. The beautiful and blue sky would turn completely dark. In between all this, the earth's crust, which is made up of 45 per cent oxygen, would completely crumble.In just five seconds without the oxygen, the world would look completely different. Without oxygen, our houses, dams, tall building and any structure made out of concrete would collapse instantly. Oxygen is also important for the concrete. It acts as a special binding agent to concrete.
