Small
The lights of the city lit up the night sky. Looking down at the city from just outside city limits, staring out of my tiny bedroom window. I saw the beauty of the city lights, sparkling and alive at the stroke of midnight. I then looked up at the constellations who have been telling stories for years. The sky and its stories slowly dripped down and met the earth’s land. The horizon was lighter from the city’s own stars. As if mortal beings like us humans could cast shadows on the heavens above. How ridiculous us humans truly sometimes try to be. We try to run for the hills, climb the highest of mountains, discover the bottoms of the oceans, and the wonders of outer space. How hard we truly try to become more then what we really are… We are but one in billions, we are but microscopic critters compared to the universe. Sometimes we forget about that. We forget how small we are at times. But there are moments in a lifetime, that can open one’s eyes, that can truly cause one to see and believe that though we are small, we are but part of something much bigger than ourselves.
