On saving the planet...

What you have to understand is that we are running out of time....we need changes but they are too slow to come. We need earth shattering commitments and for leaders to stand up and fight for what’s right or more accurately the right thing to do, because of course why wouldn’t anyone want to save our beautiful planet. I am sure this doesn’t make much sense to most people, so where does that leave us?

The point is this....no one is going to come and save this planet. This process of saving our planet has been drawn out over the most lengthy period of time, like something squeezed out in the most painful fashion which is akin to slow torture. Can someone’s reality be that disengaged that it requires a young girl called Greta Thunberg to come out of the woodwork and point out the obvious, how rubbish we are and put our leaders in their place....

For me this is like an alternative Reality where there is some dense energy that has this planet on lockdown and you know things could not be stranger....there goes common sense out the window, I can see it passing down the street quietly until its completely out of sight.....

If you’ve been doing this forever then you will feel tired of all the clichéd and tried methods of recycling, reusing etc because every year we find something new to counteract all the good things we have been doing... like recycling, reusing and revamping, and thank you to science and the scientists who find all the silent evils lurking in the water, soil, air and in our bodies. We can’t see those because they are invisible but they are there, chemicals, pollutants, toxic particulates that constantly circulate in every environment you can find. In fact even the most ‘pristine’ places may contain concentrations of these. There are dimensions to saving this planet and its mostly reverberating around remediation which is no quick fix and really, really expensive I might add...

and yes the ocean bears the brunt of it all and it makes me think that humans are hard, their living is hard and needs to become gentler. The earth is a delicate place, even with all its dangers, there is something kind in its nature which many humans seem disconnected from. One of the things we can learn is kindness and compassion - to be gentle is not a weakness. If you want to save the world, you may already understand this....an innate voice that exists in the rhythm of ocean waves, the call of birds, the sound of the wind and rain and the clarity this gives us. Life is nothing without clarity and nature shows us this all the time. Kindness is nurturing in a way that seeks to move forward collectively, in a way that is mutually beneficial. This is the stark difference between the worlds we inhabit.

As I sit and watch the sun go down, there is not much to say....the world can be felt, words are not needed. What do we care about the fish or the coral that is dying in the ocean beyond how it can make a livelihood and the desperation with which this propels fisheries to take more. If we took money out of the equation then our need for survival would be based on necessity but this is unlikely to happen....not in the time needed.

So what can I do, I mean really do that’s earth shattering to save the environment, the ocean, the forests, the landscape and atmosphere we require for our survival. Well beyond conservation which is necessary I think we need to sing more, love life more, help more, understand more, love more, live more. I think this vibration is powerful and it creates energy, perhaps enough energy to disperse the density that has us on lockdown and I am a scientist so this may not be what you are expecting to hear but cultivating love and positive thinking is a good practice. Our actions are monumental but are they monumental enough to counteract a counteracting force.....only time can tell. I am thinking about Newton’s 2nd law on acceleration is equal to force and wondering how to apply this paradox to the matter at hand....saving the planet because right now would be a good time to scrutinize laws that might begin to apply to ways things are in motion.

While we talk about all the things we can do, what we are not doing is talking about all the things we are not doing to save the planet, which is really important. This situation did not just happen, feign ignorance, hide behind arrogance and talk about the wonders of progress and modern science all you want but some of us are not fooled. Just admit it, you did not consider the Earth and couldn’t really care less...even now. So we are left to do for each other what some will not....care....just care more, this is the counteracting force. Out beyond the motion of waves, the call of gulls and the yellowing hues of sunset, you wonder how long we can go on, as if the world had not changed, as if tomorrow has not been blighted and ravaged and with each proactive step is that counteracting force, moving silently against the tide....
