Light pollution is spreading rapidly, dangerous in new study Revealed - the night sky will stop being visible

Just a few more years. You will stop seeing the sky at night. This will not happen only in our country. Rather it will be all over the world. The reason for this is the light by which your house, office, roads are being illuminated. The amount and consistency of man-made light has increased to such an extent that the night sky is becoming hazy.

The night sky will stop being visible to all of us after a few years. Between 2011 and 2022, the brightness of the night sky has decreased by 7 to 10 percent. That is, the man-made lights illuminating the ground are blurring the sky. This disclosure has come to the fore through a study done all over the world.

The night sky is slowly losing its beauty. The reason for this is Light Pollution. In the process of illuminating the whole world, we will lose our own sky. Because due to the ever-increasing light pollution on the earth, the reflection of light between your eyes and the atmosphere is getting very high. That's why the sky looks hazy to your eyes. The stars are not visible. The number of stars visible in the sky is decreasing.

Now only the night sky is clearly visible in low pollution and hilly areas. Otherwise the stars are less visible. (Photo: Reuters)

North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and South America were chosen for the study of this thing. 29 thousand people from 19 thousand locations around the world were asked whether you can see the night sky clearly. How much has changed since the last decade. So citizen scientists from all over the world sent their answer. After which this report of light pollution was made. In which it has been told that in the last decade the light pollution on the earth has increased a lot. Due to this, the clear visibility of the night sky has reduced by 7 to 10 percent.

Where there is less pollution, more stars are visible there.

The current situation is that if you go to a place with less pollution, you see many stars in the sky. But they reduce as soon as you go to a city. Actually they are not less. You start seeing less due to air and light pollution. Due to the light created by humans, light reflection is happening so much all around the earth that it is justified for the stars in the sky to become blurred or not visible to your eyes.

Dangerous to humans and animals too

Physicist Christopher Keeba of the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said that this study is important for two reasons. Firstly, for the first time a study of the brightness of the night sky has been done at the global level. Secondly, the rules made to reduce the night light are being flouted all over the world. The way man-made light is increasing in the name of development, it is proving to be dangerous for the natural scenery.

Visibility decreasing by two percent every year

Keeba says that in the last decade, a lot of study is being done on the environmental impact caused by the increasing artificial light. Rules are being made for this all over the world. The amount of light in the atmosphere is being discussed, so that we can see our sky. But as fast as artificial light is increasing. It is not development but pollution. According to a study done with the help of satellites in the year 2017, the light made by humans is increasing the brightness of that area at the rate of 2 percent every year.

More problems than modern LED lights

Due to modern LED lights, this problem is increasing rapidly. It will just take a few more years. After that you will not get to see the beauty of the night sky. The biggest problem is with satellites. Because it becomes difficult for them to keep an eye on the earth due to so much light. Due to the reflection of light, their signals and cameras are affected. This leads to differences in the data.

deteriorating animal life cycle

Light pollution does not only affect the sky and darkness. It also affects humans and animals. Because of these, the species of fireflies is getting extinct. The way animals communicate is changing. Also their nocturnal life cycle is disturbed. Now scientists say that the only way to reduce light pollution is to improve the direction, quantity and type of lighting devices.

I just learned about this myself while reading science articles for my work. I hope people start listening to scientists soon.
