On large number of people still remember the trauma that was experienced by the Langtang Valley in 2015. In fact, that was the year when the whole country cried and Nepal lost more than 9000 people and infrastructure worth billions. Among different tragic cases around the country Langtang Valley experienced the most brutal attack.

A few days after the trip, a hill located right at Langtang Village collapsed. As a result, the entire hill falls upon the village, destroying every single house in the area. More than 380 people were killed and around 80 of them were tourists.

Nepal experienced such a big earthquake after almost 1 century and the chances of the earthquake that big is very rare. Also, the infrastructure of the Langtang Valley has now been shifted far from the previous village to a safer location. The houses that have been built with the assistance of different national and international agencies are very safe in comparison to previous houses that have been made from traditional Nepalese materials. This means you can safely trek to Langtang village now.

How Is Langtang Valley now?

After the devastation, the people set camp temporary camps immediately. They lived in the tent for 5 to 6 months before the construction started. With the big help of the national and international community the Langtang village and its people started the rebuilding process and completed it in about two years. After 2017, the trial was reopened for the tourists. But again Covid 19 paused tourism for a long time.

Currently, there are more than 20 hotels in the Langtang area. The new hotels have been constructed using earthquake-resistant materials. For the tourists, they have used bigger rooms with attached bathrooms, great beds, good restaurants, Wi-Fi in the room, and more facilities. They have also rebuilt their houses to keep them safe. Although the population of Langtang has dropped after the earthquake, there are still local people who are living in the area. The people here are very true to their culture and tradition.

The school and Hospital in the Langtang village were also reconstructed. So the initial medication of the tourist in case of emergency can also be here. Also, there are also fine restaurants, where you can enjoy some good Nepalese and international dishes. Currently, Langtang Valley can be a good destination for luxury tourism within the mountains.

Kyanjing Gompa (3830 m)

This is the highest point during the Langtang Valley trek. Travelers often spend more nights on the Langtang Valley trek at this point. From the village, you have an opportunity to hike along different viewpoints such as Tesergo Ri and Kyanjin Ri. Here are around 35 hotels for the stay of the tourist, each one of them equipped with very good facilities. Most hotels here also have WiFi, rooms with attached bathrooms, and similar facilities.

Trail of Langtang

Langtang Valley Trek is a very old trekking route in Nepal. The same trial has been used by travelers for almost a century now. This means the trial has to be made in such a way that you do not get lost. There are also some small stops for coffee and snacks along the way. After the earthquake, the trial was made even better. The locals have put stone stairs throughout the trekking route. The route now avoids the Langtang area and is made to become safer.
