Is Time Travel Possible?

Want clear answers?

By Daniel OkoroaforPublished about a year ago 3 min read

You're familiar with Stephen Hawking's statement that the strongest evidence against the possibility of time travel is the absence of future tourists invading our present. But what if these tourists actually visit our time in secret? It's even possible that you've encountered one without knowing. Let's meet some of the most famous time travelers.

First, there's Orin, a cyborg who arrived from the year 2050 to prevent the impending world-ending event in 2020. He gained attention by appearing on a TV show where he claimed that the entire world existed within a Matrix-like simulation. This grabbed headlines and led to an interview with a popular YouTube channel. To prove his cyborg nature, he showcased his robotic voice, which could easily be replicated using a simple computer program. Orin referred to himself as "we" and declared his purpose as a collective consciousness sent to save humanity. While Orin gained fame for his near-future predictions, it was later discovered that many experts had already made similar forecasts. He also claimed that a powerful corporation was suppressing humanity and that we were trapped in a complex computer simulation. Orin no longer appears on major shows, but he maintains a small fan base of individuals intrigued by his fantastic theories.

Another notable time traveler is Adam Archen, who traveled to us from 2045. In a widely viewed YouTube interview, he shared details about the future of the United States. The video went viral and made headlines in numerous newspapers. Archen predicted that the last official president of the country would be the daughter of Martin Luther King III, who would become the greatest president in U.S. history. He also claimed that in 2028, people would learn about the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations. Interestingly, Archen mentioned that these creatures wouldn't originate from outer space. Additionally, he predicted a global transition to a single digital currency, rendering cash obsolete. Despite skepticism, experts subjected Archen to a lie detector test, which he passed successfully. Archen explained that he possessed a chip in his hand that aided his time travel, and he anticipated the arrival of an extraterrestrial civilization in 2028. By 2045, he believed that humans would be closely intertwined with technology. Although the lie detector did not indicate deception, it doesn't guarantee the truthfulness of his claims, as the device can be misled through specialized training. The accuracy of Archen's statements will only be known when 2028 arrives.

All these time travelers who journeyed into the past strangely refrained from using future knowledge. If you had the opportunity to go back 50 years, what would you do? Perhaps you would invest in a fledgling company that would later become a successful corporation. In such a case, people would believe you truly came from the past. Remarkably, there is a real-life example of someone who did just that. Andrew Carlson invested $800 in the stock market and turned it into $350 million in 2003. Unfortunately, his newfound wealth didn't bring lasting joy, as the FBI became interested in him. Andrew sold some stocks and purchased others, skillfully accumulating wealth over several months. The Securities Commission found these coincidences too extraordinary, prompting them to involve the FBI. During the interrogation, everyone expected Andrew to attribute his success to luck. However, calmly and confidently, he claimed to be a time traveler from the year 2256, using a time machine. Naturally, his assertion was met with skepticism. When the FBI attempted to find information about Andrew Carlson, they discovered nothing. He had no records or presence in any database, seemingly appearing out of thin air to amass a fortune. The interrogation lasted about four hours, during which Andrew remained composed. While he didn't disclose the location of the time machine, news of his story quickly spread
