HUMAN BEHAVIOUR

Reading people's minds.

By Senyatsi AraiphaPublished 3 years ago • 7 min read

Pyschological facts about human.

When we meet someone for the first time, we're bombarded with information. It can be difficult to figure out what kind of person he/she is. That's why it's important to understand HOW we're communicating.

According to experts, 55% of the information we convey is through body language, 38% is through tone of voice, and only 7% is through what we actually say. That means we need to consider these three factors when we first meet someone - in addition to what a person's appearance might suggest. So if you want to get a glimpse of a person's personality when you first meet them, pay attention to the following clues - from the head down!

Number 1 - Eye Contact

It's often said that the eyes are the window to the soul. To figure out what kind of eye contact someone is making, you need to consider the context. For example, if a person can't take their eyes off you, it could mean they have a romantic interest.

On the other hand, if you look someone in the eye and they can't bring themselves to look at you, it's a sign that they're either nervous or have something to hide. So if you're talking to someone whose gaze makes you uneasy - especially if he or she's very still and doesn't blink - then something is definitely up, and he or she may be lying to you.

Number 2 - Eyebrows

If you want to know how comfortable a person is, look at their eyebrows! There are three major emotions that raise your eyebrows: Surprise, Worry and Fear. Try to raise your eyebrows when you're having a relaxed conversation with a friend.

It's not that easy, is it? If someone talking to you raises their eyebrows without the topic logically causing surprise, worry, or fear, it's a sign that they're pretty uncomfortable.

Number 3 - Smile

When it comes to a smile, the mouth can lie, but the eyes cannot. genuine smile extends to the eyes and causes the skin around the eyes to form crow's feet.

People often smile to hide what they're really thinking and feeling. So the next time you want to know if a person's smile is genuine, look for wrinkles in the corners of their eyes. If they're not there, the smile is hiding something!

Number 4 - What they're saying

If you meet someone for the first time and all he or she does is talk about their wonderful better half or praise their co-workers, they're probably a pretty decent person themselves. Studies show that the more people rate others as kind, polite, loving, and well-mannered, the more likely they're to possess those qualities.

But the opposite is also true. Those who are deceitful and describe others as manipulative and malicious are more likely to have these traits themselves. It's also possible that they suffer from depression or personality disorder.

Number 5 - Para Language

Para-language is non-verbal communication, such as tone of voice, pitch, or manner of speaking. Basically, it's a fancy way of saying that you have to pay attention to how someone says something. For example, if someone answers you in a monotone, they're most likely not engaged or interested in your concept.

The use of sarcasm is another good example. When someone uses sarcasm, what the person means is actually the opposite of what the words say. So pay attention to the emphasis of the words and the way they're pronounced. This will give you an important clue to the person's true intentions.

Number 6 - Sideways glances

People who are warm and open to meeting you'll turn their body towards you and look you in the eyes. If you've just met someone and he or she immediately looks to the side, that's good news, this is an unconscious body language sign that means the person is looking for an escape.

Number 7 - Frequent nodding

Nodding is usually a sign that someone agrees with you. However, excessive nodding can signal fear of agreement. If you're telling someone something and they nod excessively, it means they're worried about what you think of them or that you doubt their ability to follow your directions.

On the other hand, frequent nodding can also be an unconscious gesture signalling the other person to move on - like someone constantly looking at their watch or touching their car keys.

Number 8 - Chin and Jaw When someone is trying to make a decision, he tends to rub his chin.

Maybe he/she looks up, down, or sideways while doing so is a sure sign that the person is deep in thought. A clenched jaw is a sign of stress regardless of what the person says, this indicates a significant level of discomfort.

The conversation may be about something that is troubling the person, or the person's mind may be elsewhere and focused on the thing that is stressing them out.

Number 9 - Posture

The way someone carries themselves can give you information about his/her self-confidence. For example, if someone walks upright, shoulders back, and looks straight ahead straight ahead, it indicates that he feels good about himself and has self- confidence.

However, if someone slumps their shoulders and looks down at the ground while walking, it gives a very different impression. This doesn't necessarily mean that the person has low self-esteem, but that is the message it sends.

Number 10 - Rubbing hands

It's believed that the hands transmit what the head is thinking. When a person rubs their hands together, it usually means that they have a positive feeling about something. People usually do this when they hope that something good is coming in the future and they're looking forward to it.

Number 11 - Handshake

You can tell a lot from a person's handshake if it's soft and limp, it's probably submissive or a weakling. Too hard and smothering - and they may be domineering types, the duration of the handshake is also important. Too long a handshake is odd, too short could indicate conflict.

It's possible that the person doesn't want to build a deep relationship with you but it could also mean that she doesn't have much time.

Number 12- Leaning in or leaning away

When a person leans in toward you, it's a clear sign that they're interested in what you have to say. What you may not know is that this is also a sign of respect when people approach you during a conversation and lean toward you, it shows that they want to confide in you.

It makes them feel trustworthy and valued however, when someone leans back, it shows that they're tired of the conversation, or perhaps they're uncomfortable for some reason.

Number 13 - Hold the baby

Ok... This may sound strange, but it's good to know when you meet someone for the first time who has just become a mother, pay attention to which arm they use to hold the baby. Studies show that happy mothers are more likely to hold their baby on their left arm and stressed and depressed mothers tend to hold their baby on their right arm.

Number 14 - Crossed arms and legs

Have you ever had a conversation with someone who has their arms or legs crossed while you were talking to them? On a first date or when you're trying to pitch a new idea to someone, this isn't a good sign, crossed arms and legs are physical barriers that indicate the other person isn't open to what you're saying even if the person is smiling and engaging in pleasant conversation, their body language reveals something about that Psychologically, crossed legs or arms signal that a person is mentally, emotionally, and physically disconnected from what is in front of them.

The direction of a person's feet is also very telling a person who likes you'll have both feet pointing in your direction. However, if their feet are moving towards the door, it means they have had enough and want to leave.

Number 15 - Shoes

A person's shoes can reveal a lot about their personality. Obviously, we all judge people's shoes, but studies show that they're quite telling accurate.

- Nervous people have new or very clean shoes

- Friendly people wear practical shoes - Calm people have a preference for uncomfortable shoes

shoes - And aggressive people wear ankle boots

Take a look at your own shoes. Does your personality type match them?

Number 16 - Overall appearance

How someone dresses and presents themselves can say a lot about them. If the person wears their hair neatly, their clothes are pressed, and they pay attention to style, they may be very detail-oriented.

Someone with a more casual wardrobe or a "bed head" may be creative or just messy. Someone who looks unkempt and smelly might also just be a lazy person

Number 17 - Copying body language

If you've never tried to read people before, you probably haven't noticed this but pay close attention in the future, because if someone imitates your body language, it means that they feel so good about you that they want to harmonize with you. It's a sign that the conversation is going well and that the other party is receptive to your message.

This happens unconsciously - because no one walks around with the intention of directly copying someone. But when we feel comfortable with people, we tend to do what they do. Some of us are pretty good at reading the signs people send out.

Others are so bad that they need the other person to tell them directly what they're thinking. Reading people isn't easy, but if you can do it, it's a fantastic skill. Of course, every person is different, so interpreting their words and actions may not always be accurate.

But hopefully with these tips, you'll be well on your way to reading people better.
