Changes in the concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor can trap more heat in the atmosphere, leading to a warming effect known as the greenhouse effect. In meteorology, for example, forecasting is used to predict weather patterns and severe weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods. In finance, forecasting is used to predict stock prices, interest rates, and economic indicators such as GDP and inflation. In marketing, forecasting is used to predict consumer demand for products and services, and in engineering, it is used to predict failure rates and maintenance needs for equipment and infrastructure.
