Gas Leakage Leads to 17 Deaths And Others Injured
GAS Leakage In SOUTH AFRICA

According to South African authorities, at least 17 people, including children, have perished from poisonous gas inhalation in a small community close to the town of Boxberg East of Johannesburg. The Emergency Services believe that the nitrate that leaked from the gas cylinder was connected to illegal gold mining in the area, and the Gauteng municipal chairman of the economic freedom fighters party in coleco dunga has been speaking to reporters there.
We may state that there are members of the community who have been saying that they've been calling the saps, especially since six o'clock, you know before even the tragic to say that. This leak unquestionably came from a gas leak, possibly from what you would speak to as illegal miners zamazamas, whose home was really inhaled.
Let's talk to our correspondent nonsa maseko now. According to what we have learned so far, there was a bad smell at the Angelo casual settlement at around 6 p.m. last night, and people started suspecting that they might have gas leaks because that informal. They would actually really like assistance, but they did not receive it until casualties were actually found lying in the streets and lying on our roads.
It did turn out that the gas leak actually occurred in an area or shack where there were gas canisters within, and those are the kinds of areas where improper miners you know hire out to harvest gold from soil that they would have stolen from abandoned mine shafts, uh, all around this area here in is in southeast Johannesburg. However, chaos next started when members of the community went to the area where they saw that there was a smell coming from it and that is when people started collapsing and officials thus far
As we were only hearing from the politician, we just played around a little bit when we said that people complaining that they didn't get the right response when they reported that bad smell properly is, regrettably, the tragedy when it comes to Southern African dark communities to be specific. 15 others are still in hospitals, and three of those who are in hospital still remain in critical condition at this point.

because even though they may call for help it always comes it only comes when it is soon um you know and what happened their last day is no shock that uh Crisis? Services officers just arrived at the scene one scheduled fatalities started to be reported in truth the BBC did talk to one woman whose husband also died at the picture she was not there at the moment because she was at work but she did manage to tell us that um she received a call from her relatives uh saying that her husband was one of the people that had collapsed um in the area and most of those people it appears that they are the people that had collapsed or also died were within a 100 - time spoke of where the gas canisters were found
You will therefore see a lot of, uh, politicians and officials all over yesterday when, um, today's impact, when none of them were present to also assist or even make sure that this situation receives the necessary attention. This is greatly appreciated for the reporting that people in the informal settlement in Angelo reported smelling bad last night and that it was thought there might have been gas leaks. As a result, seventeen people perished, and fifteen more are being treated in hospitals for serious accidents. Three people are still in critical condition. Emergency Services just arrived at the scene one afternoon after the plaintiffs initially reported the taste, and because of this disaster, the situation has not received the attention it deserves.
