Candela is a company that is making waves in the boating industry with their high-tech, all-electric speedboats. These boats are not only environmentally friendly, but they also offer a longer high-speed range thanks to their collaboration with Polestar for the battery technology. The sleek and modern design of these boats is sure to turn heads out on the water. Not only that, but the use of cutting-edge technology makes them a joy to operate. Candela is truly setting the standard for the future of boating.

When I wrote my first article about the tech business situated in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2021, it began with the following: "I had a feeling Candela's hydrofoiling, all-electric powerboat was going to be a game-changer."

Since Gustav Hasselskog founded the company in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2014, you could say that the growing team of hypersmart engineers, software developers, yacht designers, and boatbuilders at Candela have been designing and building an all-electric boat that's similar to what Elon Musk did with Tesla automobiles.

That, however, wouldn't quite be accurate. In fact, building an electric-powered, zero-emission speedboat that can travel up to 50 nautical miles at 22 mph between charges was far more difficult for them than it was for Elon Musk since boats have a lot more drag to contend with than cars.

In actuality, the automobile allusion is perfect. However, Candela has announced a partnership with Polestar, a totally different all-electric vehicle company. The outcome of their cooperation is Candela's current longest-range electric boat.

The Candela C-8, which is marketed as being "powered by Polestar," utilizes the same 69 kWh battery and DC charging system as Polestar 2 vehicles. This means that the boat can travel far farther than Candela was able to in 2021, up to 57 nautical miles (65 statutory miles) at a cruising speed of 22 knots (25 MPH)!

In fact, range compares favorably with the use cases of conventional fossil fuel-powered boats and is two to three times more than what non-fossil-fueled electric speedboats can reach at high speeds.

The vast range is made possible by Candela's patented technology, which is incredibly effective. The C-8 uses 80% less energy than traditional boats while traveling at high speed while flying above the waves on computer-guided underwater hydrofoils. Its extremely effective Candela C-POD motor can provide 75 kW (100 horsepower) for takeoff. Once the C-8 is flying efficiently on its foils, it uses just about 23 kW (30 horsepower) of its Polestar battery pack.

Additionally, the Polestar partnership enables quick DC charging, which expands the boat's range and ensures its viability in the future.

"With the Candela C-8, you may go on completely new routes if you have access to fast DC chargers, which are already beginning to appear in marinas all over the world." You can travel from Sweden to Finland in one day or the entire French Riviera in a few hours.Gustav Hasselskog asserts, "For just a few euros' or dollars' worth of electricity."

According to Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, "sharing know-how on batteries and vehicle engineering with Candela will assist in realizing our common aim of transitioning to a future where all forms of transportation are sustainable."

As a parent and someone who genuinely cares about preserving our world for future generations, I'm thrilled to share the progress Candela and Polestar are making in preserving the health of our seas by utilizing cutting-edge technology to solve these extremely challenging challenges.

May I provide a second forecast?

The C-8 (and whatever else Gustav and his merry gang of wickedly clever engineers come up with in the future) are making some of the coolest boats in the world that also happen to be some of the greenest, so I believe that global adoption of this amphibious technology is just a matter of time.
