You enjoy traveling yet are concerned about the environment. Is it possible to enjoy your trip and still feeling good about the environment? It's actually a lot simpler than you think.

Earth is a wonderful planet, with innumerable treasure scattered across. With the planet's beauty and awe-inspiring manifestations of creation, it's no surprise that exploring the world in a way that protects its worth is becoming more popular.

The Earth's presence is continuously changing, and ecotourism allows individuals to embrace the opportunity by participating in this ongoing change. Ecotourism is an easy, inexpensive, and amazing way to spend your next family holiday or to get away from the rush and bustle of contemporary life.

The tourist industry today acknowledges that you want to experience the world without destroying it, and there are multiple eco-friendly choices available – you just need to know how to identify them!

Decarbonize Transportation:

If you travel, chances are you'll need a car to move about. Simply hire an electric hybrid vehicle while you're there to reduce your carbon footprint and use less gasoline. What about reaching there in the first place, especially if your destination is hundreds of miles away?

Can you drive or take the train instead of flying to your destination? Avoid short-haul (500 km) trips by airplanes in particular, and if you must fly, choose airlines with higher occupancy rates and more efficient aircraft.

After reaching the destination, use bike rental programs and local transport lines to visit the places. Bicycles are the best means to reach nearby places, if available when you reach your destination.

Green Accommodation:

You'll need to sleep someplace no matter how many hours you spend paddling, diving, or trekking! Fortunately, some hotels are more environmentally conscious than ever.

Choose a hotel that has achieved the EPA's EnergyStar certification, which means it consumes up to 40% less energy than a normal building and emits up to 35% fewer carbon emissions. There are also hotels that use wind and solar energy, which are two of the cleanest and most renewable energy sources.

Look for a hotel that is committed to utilizing only the most environmentally friendly cleaning chemicals on your linens and towels. Furthermore, by requesting that certain things not be cleaned on a daily basis, you may help save hundreds of gallons of water!

Environment-friendly behavior:

The environment may be substantially conserved simply by modifying human behavior not just at home but even during vacations. But how? Does the 80:20 principle of management fit here? Yes. Our 20 percent behavioral modification can conserve 80 percent of the environment.

Small Changes:

  • Respect the local environment.
  • Conserve water.
  • Limit energy use.
  • Dispose of sanitary waste properly.
  • Recycle and reduce.
  • Choose environmentally friendly transport.
  • Avoid damaging recreational activities.
  • Green spending
  • No to plastic bags
  • Use Organic product

If you are looking for a destination for traveling then we are suggesting one eco-friendly spot. Khonoma village is an excellent place for eco-tourism that holds camps, treks, and other outdoor activities from time to time. Visiting the place is an experience worth remembering and it counts as one of those tribal travel journeys.

Khonoma village: A model for Eco-tourism:

Khonoma Village, Nagaland, India

This is India’s first green village located in the Indian state of Nagaland. By visiting Khonoma, you will be exposed to North Eastern culture in general and Angami tribe in specific. Its journey to earn the designation of a Green Village was not an easy one, since hunting is ingrained in the people here as a way of life. The first step that was taken in this regard was the creation of the Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary (KNCTS) in 1998. This sanctuary was mainly set up in order to conserve the Blythe’s Tragopan, an endangered pheasant of the wildlife of the state. As a result, the village witnessed a gradual shifting from hunting to conservation practices. The sanctuary is gradually gaining a lot of popularity as an ideal place for adventure and nature study, tourists from places far and wide come over to the sanctuary to explore the territory and witness the wonderful sight of the endangered animals and plants.

It has also become a model village for eco-tourism with its mission of ‘Green Khonoma’. Khonoma village is an excellent place for eco-tourism that holds camps, treks, and other outdoor activities from time to time. Visiting the place is an experience worth remembering and it counts as one of those tribal travel journeys.

People in this hamlet do not chop down trees because they want to conserve trees and make their town the greenest in the world. Every residence is required to have a trashcan in order to ensure appropriate sanitation. Whatever ashes and residue are produced are used as suitable plant manure. Every month, the community organizes a sanitation campaign in which the whole waste of the area is burned, which is an excellent approach to preserve hygiene and sanitation.

With the growing worldwide desire for green consumption, it's no wonder that this emerging concern has spread to the hospitality and tourist sectors. Sustainability is evolving process so there is no one size fits all model for a sustainable environment. Therefore conscious individual efforts can make a lower impact on the environment and helps us to reduce our carbon footprint.

On the technology front, if the world has become a Global Village then Green Khonoma should be our model for conservation on the environment front.
