St. Catherine of Alexandria (1507-1509)
Basking in the warmth of the sun
While St. Catherine of Alexandria is not one of Raphael's most famous paintings, it is my favorite. Catherine leans against the medieval torture wheel that was intended to kill her, but broke instead - indicating that one can overcome adversity. Stylistically influenced by da Vinci, Catherine's facial expression evokes ecstasy.
Background: As a World History teacher, I showed my high school students examples of Renaissance art every year. I regularly expressed my love of this painting, and one year a group of students pitched in to buy me this framed print as a gift that I will always cherish.

Mehndi Designs #4
Still another Mehndi design that I colored for this rabbit intrigued me the way he was posed. I duplicated the colors I used with the animal, as well as with a lot of the flowers surrounding the rabbits. Again, I am hoping for comments and maybe $tips$ on the work. Tales of the Aurora Borealis
Who knew a solar storm could be so beautiful? Purples, reds, and greens shimmering in our skies like dancing ribbons. Hypnotic and enchanting, the Northern Lights have had us humans in complete awe for centuries. Which got me thinking, what did our ancestors think of the Aurora Borealis?
